Just got an email from Frontier about a set top box update coming within this week for Quantum.
They can't even get other things right so I'm not holding my breath with this update. I see it either causing problems or bricking some peoples service.

[FIOS] Slow Download Rate - Long Beach/CA - 7/25
Hello everyone,
I noticed today when I woke up and turned on my netflix that it was staying at a 480p rate, so I checked my speed on my computer and I am getting between a 1Mb to a 3Mb download rate. My upload rate is good, it's around 65-70 Mb. The ping also seems fine as it flexuates between 5-7ms. I have a 50/50Mb (internet only) fios plan.
Anyone else in this area having issues today? I called tech support, and I think he rebooted the ONT and put me on hold while he did so, however, the I got disconnected on, and am going to have to call back and wait on hold again... Grr... I did notice when he said he was going to reboot the ONT that I lost all connectivity for a few minutes, but when it came back on the speeds were almost identical with no change.
Any suggestions?

Current customer deals
Anyone been successful getting a deal as a current customer? No luck for me. Seems dumb as current customers cost less to maintain than adding new customers does. Old Frontier logic.

Autopay got turned off on my account.
Just a data point and a heads up. Autopay decided to get turned off on my account with no notice. I got charged $3.58 for a late fee and I'm in the process of getting that credited back through chat.
So maybe go double check to make sure your autopay didn't get turned off.

[FIOS] Mcard/Cablecard Fox channel problems. No issues with Verizon
My Frontier account is part of Frontier's Verizon acquisition in Southern California.
I use Tivo's for all of my TV Tuners. Tivo's use Mcard/Cablecard 's provided by cable companies to tune in their channels.
Some channels have special copy restrictions. When these copy protections are in the stream for a channel Tivo will not allow users to transfer those recordings to another DVR, or watch those shows using their streaming app on a phone or tablet. This if fine, you can at least tune the channels in and record them once on the tuned in DVR.
Getting these channels always requires extra work. Standard Mcard provisioning never seems to capture them for normal viewing. But both Time Warner, and Verizon had specialists that knew how to perform the special provisioning needed to get these channels tuned in on their Mcards.
Unfortunately, Frontier does not. One of my Tivo's recently failed and needed to be replaced. I have the new unit, the mcard is provisioned, and all Fox channels are blocked. This includes Nat Geo (which Fox is partnered with and manages broadcasting for).
After hours spent with their customer support, and several reboot/restarts of everything in the signal path, they just don't have any idea what the problem is or how to solve it.
They sent a tech out (I am just going through their standard support methods here to satisfy them), and I was able to show him a Tivo box with mcard that was working correctly (provisioned by Verizon before the take over), and the new one working for all non Fox channels but unable to tune in Fox channels.
The tech was a good guy, and he got the problem, which their customer service people failed to understand.
So be aware. At this point, Frontier just does not have this knowledge anywhere in their customer support chain.
I am still pursuing this, and will update this thread when/if they solve the problem.

FrontierTV Mobile App
I know this app is discussed in the various "territory" threads, but I wanted to draw it out as a stand-alone topic so that progress on the app can be more visible.
Today (4/8) the Android app seems stable in understanding that I am connected via my home WiFi. With this, In the Watch Now area I can see 125 channel tiles when the view is set to All. Most are locked. When I switch to Subscribed view I see nine local stations including one RSN. They all stream, although there are some incorrect channel information (e.g. in one case the channel is 11 (an SD channel), but the feed is in HD which would make it 511; in another case where both the SD (30) and HD (530) feeds are available that the 530 feed is actually a sub channel of the OTA channel, the HD version of 30).
Then bottom line is that the subscription information is still hosed (consistent with what I see on the tv.frontier.com web site) because almost all of my subscribed channels are locked. The "coming soon" functionality is still missing with one exception: The "Watch on TV" icon on the lower right of a streamed channel window is back, and it works! When tapping my STB changed to the channel I was viewing on the tablet. Also "STB" is now on the view screen where your attached STB name used to be shown with Verizon's app. Tapping it shows "STB" (I only have one STB so that's what I would expect), but again Watch on TV works.

[Internet] Random Routes - Getting 90 Ping In My Own Area?!
Hello! So the past month or two I've noticed that my ping has been high when pinging Tampa, where I live.. My download speeds used to be around 90mbps and same with my uploads, now I get 80 mbps (perfectly fine) but only 34mbps upload of the promised 75mbps.
That's not the real issue here, I did an MRT and I noticed that my traffic goes from Florida to Dallas Texas then back out, which would explain the high ping. I normally wouldn't mind, but my servers would suffer from this because I'm setting up a remote DDoS Mitigation proxy, and now all of my servers are over 100+ ping for my players, even though my proxy is hosted in Atlanta, which I used to get 24 ping to.
Is there a way to get this routing fixed or bypass Frontier's routing so my servers can have low ping? Thanks!

[FIOS] Streaming Services stil don't work almost 4 months after Frontier.
So,
We're at 4 months since Frontier took over FiOS in California, and Frontier still doesn't have my online streaming access worked out.
I can not watch HBOGo, MaxGo, Showtime Anywhere, EPIX, ESPN, ABC, Syfy, or any streaming services that is part of what I pay for FiOSTV. This is extremely unacceptible, as I depend on these streaming services to watch content while I'm away from home.
...and my bill is still more expensive than it was with Verizon!
I've wasted time with customer service ( over 2 hours) to basically be given the run around.
PJL from here sent me to someone else who started to look into my account, but they never followed up with me. "Scott B" sent his message to me on 6/22/2016. I responded to him with an email on 6/28/2016, but he hasn't gotten back to me. That's probably due to the fact that he is on EST in Rochester New York, and I'm on Pacific time in Chino California. He probably gets off of work and is at home several hours before me. Needless to say I'm extremely ticked off. I shouldn't have to deal with this. I enjoy the internet speeds, but Frontier has ruined my TV viewing. It's mostly worthless to me with the streaming services that should have been working since April. ...and I don't blame Scott B for this problem, but I do blame Frontier. Seriously thinking of switching to TWC/Charter/Spectrum.

[FIOS] Missing or Broken FIOS Functionality Since Transition to Frontier
Here is a quick inventory of service functionality that remains missing with Frontier's after the transition to Frontier that I have observed either personally or read about in this forum. It is provably not exhaustive, so please add your issues as appropriate.
Service-Level Issues
- For some, when accounts are touched in any manner all or some service are lost.
- For some with both business and personal accounts using the same ONT, some services are either not working (especially Digital Voice) (provisioning system cannot deal with two accounts provisioned to one ONT).
- Customers are experiencing excessive delays in getting services fixed (or installed).
- Some customers are experiencing non-trivial billing errors, e.g. being billed for voice call usage when they are under an unlimited Digital Voice plan.
TV Services (STB)
- VOD is missing content that was available with Verizon (e.g. HD versions missing, 3-D content, etc.) and directory tree structure is messed up in some places.
- STB Digital Voice managment tools are still "coming soon" -- since April 1, 2016.
- Important Customer Support Top Support troubleshooting tools do not work (e.g. Fix FiOS TV issues, etc.) do not work.
- On screen Caller ID is missing for some customers, and names are missing for most calls for those that do get the on-screen display (apparently except for numbers internal to the Digital Voice system).
- Some customer are finding that price/discount commitments from their Verizon contracts are not carrying over to Frontier.
- Widgets are missing (e.g. Pandora) or work intermittently (e.g. Weatherbug, especially the maps screens) showing a network connectivity error.
- In the Guide view, pressing the left arrow (which used to bring up the option to go to VOD area for the channel) does not work.
- The Message Center menu item does nothing.
- Guide date is missing information (e.g. cast and crew) or show less information in general.
Mobile TV/Streaming Services (includes some problems for Vantage customers as a courtesy)
- The mobile TV app says you are not connecting on your home WiFi eventhough you are, and thus shows a small subset of channels.
- Subscribed filter view for TV listings does not present correct set of channels (channels are missing) in both mobile app and tv.frontier.com web browser access, and for some shows channel lists for the wrong geographic location.
- Streaming is intermittent: sometimes and error message shows, sometimes the spinner just spins; many channels do not stream on tv.frontier.com.
- STB remote control function is intermittent or unstable (FiOS), or missing (Vantage).
- DVR management functions are still not available (e.g. seeing scheduled and recorded content; scheduling from within the TV Listings screens, etc.).
- Free On Demand content is almost non-existent, although paid content is somewhat populated.
- Many channels on tv.frontier.com web site do not stream (including all locals and some national channels).
- Streaming quality using web browser is inferior (e.g. grainy; full screen does not fill the screen, etc.).
- Browser access to tv.frontier.com is complex to set up and often fails.
- Edge browswer is not supported (site required a plug-in and flash).
- Customer are still receiving "not subscribed" errors when they attempt to sign into streaming services included with their subscriptions.
- My Libray function does not work.
- Bookmarks function does not work.
- Access via the tv.frontier.net web site requires IE 11+ running on Windows 7+ (eliminating streaming on Vista) (likely due to use of a custom plugin versus the use of Flash).
Digital Voice
- Caller ID names are missing for most calls (apparently except for numbers internal to the Digital Voice system).
Internet
- Routing is periodically unstable causing connection errors.
- Speeds (up/down or both) are still incorrect for some customers
- IP Geoloaction information (used by apps and services that require a location to function properly) is inaccurate (e.g. in my case my IP location is 70 miles off).
- More frequent WAN IP address changes have occurred (probably a result of tweaks to the Frontier network).
On-Line Account Management
- There is no on-line ordering functionality for new customers
- There are no DVR management functions via web portal.
- Therr is missing information for many account holders
- There is no online service management (add/remove services, order hardware, etc.) for existing customer.
Other
- There is no frontier.com email (or maybe we ex-Verizon customer have not been informed of it).
- Service charges without existing contract discounts are much higher (indicating rates will increase significantly when contracts are over).

[TV] HBOGO ETC.
I guess it was too much to hope for, but all the special channel access such as HBOGO do not yet work for those of us just migrated from Verizon to Frontier.
↧
FIOS Ultimate TV and HBO
I thought it was a free preview weekend a few weekends ago, but I see now that HBO is included with FIOS Ultimate TV. So check it out if you had Ultimate TV with Verizon. You basically have every channel now but Starz.

North Texas outages - 10:30pm almost nightly
Hello,
Since the Frontier FIOS takeover in my area (Southlake, TX), we seem to be having frequent outages. They are short in duration and usually occur around 10:20 - 10:30pm. Anyone else notice this?
Verizon FIOS rarely ever went out.
I get that they might still be tweaking stuff, but just wondering if this is widespread or isolated.
Also, anyone notice a loss of picture quality on some of the HD movie channels? It seems they are compressing some of the content more than Verizon used to. Am I imagining this?
Thanks

Using Cat5 directly from ONT
To continue this conversation, I think I got a shot of the right port, but you can confirm. Is this literally something they can do from their end, or does it require a service call? Thanks.

[DSL] Broadband Max with store purchased modem
I am asking about an account with service in Connecticut (formerly ATT). I am on 6 mbps, known as Broadband Max. I was stuck with this monstrous modem / gateway from the ATT days, the 2Wire 3600HGV. I want to cut back to a new modem, and I don't care if it is a router.
I got the Netgear Dm111PSP from Staples. As long as I have my Frontier user name and password, will this modem work?
