ONT will not finish booting/blinking MGMT light

After almost a month of good service and an erroneous $560 bill, which has since been remedied... last night around 5pm all my services suddenly went down. Occasionally it'll pull an IP address and 1 or 2 channels seem to work then boom it's all gone, still haven't been able to get out to the internet and the dial tone is gone. Rebooting the ONT, it's stuck in flashing MGMT light mode, which means it's booting up? Phone support tried to remotely reboot it and after a few minutes of it attempting to boot again, they quickly said there's a problem with my line or provisioning and they'd have a tech out at 5pm "tomorrow" Judging by past experiences what are the odds a field tech will be able to get my provisioning fixed and actually show up? Also, it looks like BenJ is no where to be found, who can help us with potential provisioning problems now? My thoughts are either someone tripped over a cord at the CO or my ONT serial was part of a software upgrade that went wrong, I had read somewhere this has become a more common issue with ONTs disappearing from their inventory.

[FIOS] Upgrade to FiOS G1100 Quantum Gateway?

Does anyone know if there is an upgrade path for an existing FiOS subscriber in the legacy PNW markets to the Greenwave G1100 Quantum gateway? WiFi isn't that good on the Actiontec router that I was given a few years back.

North Texas outages - 10:30pm almost nightly

Hello, Since the Frontier FIOS takeover in my area (Southlake, TX), we seem to be having frequent outages. They are short in duration and usually occur around 10:20 - 10:30pm. Anyone else notice this? Verizon FIOS rarely ever went out. I get that they might still be tweaking stuff, but just wondering if this is widespread or isolated. Also, anyone notice a loss of picture quality on some of the HD movie channels? It seems they are compressing some of the content more than Verizon used to. Am I imagining this? Thanks

[FIOS] Digital Voice Number Port

Hey all, I'm moving to a VoIP system for under $10/month instead of paying $50/month for 2 lines currently with FiOS digital voice. I have 2 numbers with Frontier and I want to port them to my new provider. I'm just curious if anyone out there has done this? I have a feeling it's going to screw my account up completely and service will be out for weeks since this number is tied to my account number. Sounds kinda silly but I changed my voicemail password a few weeks ago and services were out for a week. Hopefully this will be a smooth operation but I wanted to get some insight first. Thanks all.

[FIOS] Mcard/Cablecard Fox channel problems. No issues with Verizon

My Frontier account is part of Frontier's Verizon acquisition in Southern California. I use Tivo's for all of my TV Tuners. Tivo's use Mcard/Cablecard 's provided by cable companies to tune in their channels. Some channels have special copy restrictions. When these copy protections are in the stream for a channel Tivo will not allow users to transfer those recordings to another DVR, or watch those shows using their streaming app on a phone or tablet. This if fine, you can at least tune the channels in and record them once on the tuned in DVR. Getting these channels always requires extra work. Standard Mcard provisioning never seems to capture them for normal viewing. But both Time Warner, and Verizon had specialists that knew how to perform the special provisioning needed to get these channels tuned in on their Mcards. Unfortunately, Frontier does not. One of my Tivo's recently failed and needed to be replaced. I have the new unit, the mcard is provisioned, and all Fox channels are blocked. This includes Nat Geo (which Fox is partnered with and manages broadcasting for). After hours spent with their customer support, and several reboot/restarts of everything in the signal path, they just don't have any idea what the problem is or how to solve it. They sent a tech out (I am just going through their standard support methods here to satisfy them), and I was able to show him a Tivo box with mcard that was working correctly (provisioned by Verizon before the take over), and the new one working for all non Fox channels but unable to tune in Fox channels. The tech was a good guy, and he got the problem, which their customer service people failed to understand. So be aware. At this point, Frontier just does not have this knowledge anywhere in their customer support chain. I am still pursuing this, and will update this thread when/if they solve the problem.

I'm being maxed out/capped at Broadband Max plan (no upgrade availab

I am in Elk Grove, CA, and it appears that my entire neighborhood is being afflicted with a strange restriction to our potential provisioned speeds. No one in my area is allowed to upgrade our internet to above the lowest tier 6 down 1 up "Broadband Max" plan. This is in spite of a Frontier technician coming over to my house this past week, and informing me that my line quality is clearly capable of the 12 meg package. Not only that, but he said I have ports that allow for VDSL, potentially the maximum 24 meg plan. However, every single sales representative I've spoken with says that I am only infuriatingly allowed to subscribe to the 6meg plan, with NO option to upgrade whatsoever. Another Frontier technician indicated to me that my entire area is limited to the same abysmal 6 meg plan. This indicated to me that I am being artificially capped/maxed out at the 6meg plan, with no recourse for higher speed other than to subscribe to horrible Comcast cable (which is terrible for gaming for various reasons I will not go into detail upon at this time). What's funny is that I'm actually getting a higher provisioned download speed than I am paying for--8 megs. However, as an online gamer, I am FAR more concerned with my upload than my download. I am not getting CLOSE to 1meg on the upload side, and having such a low upload speed is extremely detrimental to my online gaming experience. Seeing as the technician who analysed my line unequivocally stated that my line is clearly capable of higher than the 6 meg plan, why am I being artificially restricted from upgrading to a faster plan (which I would GLADLY pay good money for)? Is this common practice by Frontier or other other ISP companies? Can anyone shed some light (and hope) on this issue? A few sales representatives have told me that Frontier is making a concerted effort to upgrade low speed areas (my 6 meg neighborhood, for instance) to 24 meg VDSL. In fact, I was informed that fiber is being planned to be laid down in my area within the next few years. Is this artificial cap on my upgrade plan options a temporary thing as they are making the necessary equipment and line upgrades at this point in Time? I sure to God hope so.

4K Plans for north Texas FIOS?

Does Frontier plan to offer 4k content on FIOS TV anytime soon? I've been trying out Netflix streaming and even their 1080 content is better than a lot of stuff I see on the FIOS HD movie channels.

Recorded Carson last night. Channel 466 Antenna TV KTLA 5.2. At 13:10 into the show it switched to This TV KTLA 5.3, which is 465 on the guide. It was showing an Eastwood spaghetti western. Right now, 09:37 both 465 and 466 are showing the same show even tho the guide indicates otherwise. I mean simultaneously to the second. 465 is showing Legally Blond and 466 is supposed to be showing something called Safari Tracks.

[FIOS] Bandwidth RX from Twitch.tv

Noticed recently my ability to sustain high quality Twitch streams is super poor. Have tried this on wired, wireless between many different machines. I had a feeling Frontier was throttling/packet shaping traffic for Twitch specifically - and proved the point. Signed up for a paid VPN service, and Twitch streaming is flawless now. Anyone else see this? YouTube and Netflix are fine, this is specifically Twitch that is problematic. Hard to see it's Frontier, could be some higher level provider deprioritizing Twitch traffic right? Anyone know anything more about this?

Prioritize Devices on Wifi/Coax

Is there a way to prioritize my devices on my network? I switched over from FiOS a couple months ago so when I log in to my Admin Portal it's still branded as Verizon, but I am on Frontier. Does anyone know how to prioritize stuff?

[Internet] Slow Loads/Latency Tampa Area Past Three Days

Anyone in Tampa/St Petersburg/Sarasota/Bradenton experiencing extremely slow page loads the past 2 days? I have rebooted my router and received a new IP, that didn't help. Ran a benchmark for DNS and it doesn't appear to be a DNS issue with Google Public DNS. Issue is web pages are slow to initially load, sometimes do not load completely, and you have to keep refreshing the browser. Also on Facebook on two devices many of the pictures will not load, just grey. Same issue with Flipboard. This is occurring wired or wireless, linux, iOS, Android and Windows 10. There is nothing locally on my network consuming all my bandwidth and speed tests look normal. I see on downdetector.com a lot of people reporting this same issue so I am wondering if a recent backbone update or something is causing this. I am in Riverview Florida.

Compatible DSL modems in Bradenton area?

I've got Frontier (formerly Verizon) DSL on Anna Maria Island, and I can't get the stock modem/router combos always either die out or lose all their configuration. That plus the rental fee is unacceptable. What I'd like to know is if there are any standalone modems (JUST A MODEM) that are compatible and known to work on the network.

[TV] VMS client does not record live TV after changing channels

I have 1 VMS with2 clients. One client records live TV so I can back up to watch something I missed. But if I change channels and then go back to it the live recording starts over and I can't back up past the time I just switched back. Same thing if I now switch back to second channel. The other client works as it should and so does the VMS. So I switched the clients. The one that didn't work correctly now works and the one that did work doesn't. I've rebooted them and the VMS but does not correct it. The picture and sound are great on both clients. Here's the really weird part. I start on one channel and let it get the live recording red bar showing and then switch channels and allow the red bar to get showing. Switch back to the first channel and no red bar and the recording starts over. Now switch to a channel that I was watching the night before and it has a full red bar and I can back up on it. Very confusing. So when watching that client I cannot watch/keep up with 2 channels as I should. Any ideas?

terminate new fios install with ethernet

I'm about to order fios at 150/150 but they require me to either rent or purchase their provided modem/gateway, which i found out is running off coax. My house in question does not have an ONT device installed, which I assume will be done upon order and installation. From what i've gathered online, the Ethernet port should blast out some IP and allow me to run a cat5 cable straight from the ONT directly into a router of my choosing bypassing the frontier provided gateway all together. A couple of things I want done: -I don't want to double route my home network or "bridge" the frontier gateway to my router. If my above information is remotely accurate i should be able to bypass that. -I have ZERO plans to get phone or television with them, i'm perfectly fine with internet. -I save $200 by not buying their rubbish equipment. I have already contacted frontier with my proposed setup but they shot me down saying that fios MUST run through coax. I'm going to assume all those sales folks are either sticking to their pre-written script or have no clue what i'm talking about. Bottom line... has anyone gotten this setup? Know a number i need to call to get this rolling?????

I've been a FISO business data customer for over 15 years. My guess is they change their hostnames from Verizon to Frontier and bingo... I can't get Frontier to understand that their hostname does not resolve back to my static ip address. Half of my domain mail is being rejected as spam. hostname static-71-xxx-xxx-xxx.dllstx.fios.frontiernet.net does not resolve to address 71.xxx.xxx.xxx: no address associated with name One tech visit and 8 phone calls and still no help. All I need is a entry updated in their DNS tables. IT'S A SAD DAY!

Hi there, Does anyone know Fronter/Verizon (texas based) DSL modem that output their WAN data over USB and not ethernet? I ask this as my line bonding equipment for a 4th WAN port is only USB based (not ethernet), and I was looking for the ability to add a fourth link without having to go to a 4G modem. Any help ... I am still searching/googling etc ... but was wondering if any experts in DSL know offhand TIA, +-ADT
