Hi Guys,
I want to help a friend of mine who has Frontier DSL service but does not have a wireless gateway, just a regular DSL modem. At least that is what he is telling me. Have not seen his modem yet. Anyhow, I have a EnGenius 750H wireless router I am no longer using and want to set it up for him. I have reset the modem back to factory specs and I can login to the router but not sure what the Frontier settings are the router. Is there a configuration here somewhere I can go by? Appreciate your help.

[Internet] Speed Test Results Differences
Hi There - So I recently cut the TV cord and updated my Frontier FiOS internet speed from 50/50 to 100/100. I've been running different speed tests from different sources and the only one that is reporting close to the 100/100 speeds is DSLR's own Speed Test tool: http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest/4586210
But literally every other speed test I've tried is still reporting back speeds approximately 50/50:
M-Lab: [att=1]
Fast.com: [att=2]
Ookla: [att=3]
Anyone know if there is there a router setting or something I'm not aware of that I need to adjust or is this on the ISP side?
Thanks!

Any Frontier (ex-VZW/Texas) DSL modems that output on USB
Hi there,
Does anyone know Fronter/Verizon (texas based) DSL modem that output their WAN data over USB and not ethernet? I ask this as my line bonding equipment for a 4th WAN port is only USB based (not ethernet), and I was looking for the ability to add a fourth link without having to go to a 4G modem.
Any help ... I am still searching/googling etc ... but was wondering if any experts in DSL know offhand
TIA,

[FIOS] Frontier fios smtp suddenly not working
Over the 4th of July weekend my email stopped working. I'm using the Apple mail app on an iMac trying to connect to yahoo. Incoming email using IMAP works just find. Outgoing email using SMTP does not connect and says there is an authorization issue.
I know the settings work. When I fire up a VPN connection outside of the Frontier network (Seattle, Miami or Chicago), SMTP goes green in the Connection Doctor and the Apple mail app connects.
I've come to the conclusion something in the Frontier network has changed. After working with Frontier tech support, they came up with nothing and kept repeating port 465 is not blocked.
I'm now using the VPN 100% of the time, so I can have outgoing emails. Anybody else have this issue?
TIA

[Other] Frontier Q2 2016 Conference Call Summary(upgrades, CTF, etc.)
I usually read Frontier's conference call transcripts since they usually give a little bit of information that would be useful for us, past all of the financial talk. I figured I would gather all of the quotes that I thought were important and put them in a thread, so anyone who is curious of what they spoke about didn't have to dig through all of their financial talk to find it. The quotes are in order based on when they were said(except for the last one, I thought about throwing that one in last minute). Enjoy :) If you're looking for their actual financial summary, then this isn't the place lol.
"We have also continued to execute our broadband network upgrade program in both existing and new markets. This program will result in the expansion of 50 megabits or higher broadband capability to 2 million homes over the next year."
"Our expansion of video service to new portions of our existing service territory is moving along very well. We expect to have video availability to about a half a million additional households by the end of this year."
"As we upgrade different markets in the new territories, we expect to introduce our Vantage TV product. This means that many non-FiOS areas in the new markets will become Vantage TV enabled"
"The first phase of this upgrade will be accomplished over the coming quarters and will raise speeds in these upgraded areas from 7 megabits to 50 megabits to 100 megabits"
"In our current markets, we continue to invest in our network and in our management and provisioning platforms to expand higher speed products. We expect to upgrade approximately 1.5 million homes to higher speeds over the next year. The combination of our plans to upgrade both the current and new markets improves our speed profile to approximately 2 million households. Following completion, over 40% of our households will be capable of receiving speeds in excess of 50 megabits."
"And then, as we upgrade them as we said 500,000 homes to higher speeds, we hope to change the trajectory there and that would really be a big contributor to the new markets, net broadband positive going forward." (refering to CA, TX, FL)
"From a cutover perspective, we're essentially done. From an integration perspective, there's some lingering small things, but nothing that should (32:52) to creating kind of the noise that we saw when we first cutover. So, we felt pretty good about that. We will continue to do network integration, though, over the next really two years to three years"
Q: "And then second, are we through the wireless backhaul headwind at this point?"
A: "I think we are going to continue to see it really around our legacy footprint, probably about $3 million or so a quarter. We don't think we have that sort of headwind in the new markets, and so it's mainly in our existing footprint."
"We will probably open up three to five new markets during the course of this year, which should pass an incremental, approximately 500,000 households by the end of 2016" (referring to new video footprint)
"Furthermore, we are utilizing retention offers similar to Verizon's and we are managing the normal promotional expiration cycle well."

Porting phone number and canceling service
We have a FiOS triple play bundle. We want to drop the Digital Voice and Internet and just keep TV. We want to port the DV number out so we can keep the phone number.
Do I port out the number and then once the port is finished call Frontier to change services, or do I need to change the services and as part of that tell them I want to port the number?

[Internet] Frontier RTP Traffic Routing Issue (VOIP)
My business has VOIP through Verizon Business and as of 6/27 we've had one way voice both inbound and outbound, have a ticket with VZ Biz and they say it's a frontier issue routing RTP traffic. Called frontier referencing the master ticket number VZ biz provided and they insisted on doing a truck roll. Wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and if the verizon business rep's analysis about RTP traffic is correct. Thank, also if you want that master ticket number for the issue between verizon and frontier PM me.

FrontierTV Mobile App
I know this app is discussed in the various "territory" threads, but I wanted to draw it out as a stand-alone topic so that progress on the app can be more visible.
Today (4/8) the Android app seems stable in understanding that I am connected via my home WiFi. With this, In the Watch Now area I can see 125 channel tiles when the view is set to All. Most are locked. When I switch to Subscribed view I see nine local stations including one RSN. They all stream, although there are some incorrect channel information (e.g. in one case the channel is 11 (an SD channel), but the feed is in HD which would make it 511; in another case where both the SD (30) and HD (530) feeds are available that the 530 feed is actually a sub channel of the OTA channel, the HD version of 30).
Then bottom line is that the subscription information is still hosed (consistent with what I see on the tv.frontier.com web site) because almost all of my subscribed channels are locked. The "coming soon" functionality is still missing with one exception: The "Watch on TV" icon on the lower right of a streamed channel window is back, and it works! When tapping my STB changed to the channel I was viewing on the tablet. Also "STB" is now on the view screen where your attached STB name used to be shown with Verizon's app. Tapping it shows "STB" (I only have one STB so that's what I would expect), but again Watch on TV works.

Quantum router suddenly stopped providing DNS on wired connections
Something really bizarre has just happened in my home network. All my wired clients suddenly can't connect to the internet. Only by connecting wireless to the router can I get online.
I even tried connecting a computer directly to the router and it sees it is connected by gets a self assigned IP address.
This happened out of the blue around 8pm tonight. I've rebooted the router and switches (although problem exists connecting directly so I believe only the router could be involved).
Any thoughts?
I guess never mind. There was a wireless gateway that was behaving badly. I diagnosed by disconnecting things from the wired network in a "binary search" fashion once I discovered that disconnecting one part of the wired network made everything come back. Finally found a wireless gateway that once rebooted everything started working again.

[Phone] Former Verizon users of NOMOROBO in CA, FL, and Texas
I just realized that NOMOROBO was not working for me anymore. I was improperly setup.
You need to one use a DIFFERENT Simultaneous ring Phone Number for Frontier. And it is probably turned off in your settings on Frontier. I had turned it on but not changed the phone number.
1. So you will need to logon to your account at NOMOROBO and change your Phone provider to say Frontier and it will ask you where you are located and give you the New Phone number to use.
2. Go into your Frontier FIOS Digital Voice and specify that phone number and activate Simultaneous ring.
3. Have NOMOROBO test to see if it is properly activated.

Frontier FIOS fiber cable splice
I had Frontier tech at my house on Monday for loss of all service. He found that the fiber cable from the street to my home was cut somewhere, so he sliced in a new cable to my house and connected it to a cable coming into an underground box at the street. The spice was cable to cable...not to a plug. He left the cable on the lawn for someone to come and bury it which happened on Wednesday. From Monday to Wednesday I had great internet...faster than it's been. After the cable was buried on Wednesday, I started to have web pages that aren't loading and other random internet related issues.
The only change was burying the line. I am in a very wet area and it's rained heavily this week. The lines and the splice are undoubtedly under water since there is standing water on my lawn over the line. The question is....do the techs use a waterproof slice of some sort (he used a small but obviously very expensive device to make the splice) or is it possible that being underwater, the splice is causing the problem. No one at Frontier seems to have a clue and their solution to everything is send a tech out.
Can anyone tell me if the fiber splice should be in a waterproof box or be special since it will be, at times, under water? Could this be my problem?

Trying to obtain Frontier Internet Service
I called Frontier and was told I was eligible for their 12 mbs download at my address in Murphy,NC. On the day of the install I waited until 4:30 pm and called again as to why no one showed up. After 45 minutes on the phone I was finally told that I would not be receiving an installation today or any day in the near future. Not good customer service from the start. After posting on FB with my story I was contacted by someone in customer service. The bottom line is I was told that my local office needed to install " more ports on their router " before I could have any service. They said that there were upgrades needed in my area but had no timeline on when that would happen. I saw where Frontiere accepted $ 477,328 for upgrades in my county. Don't they have to account for that funding? My only other choice for internet is Satellite, or my current isp which is Skytek, which is a WISP. I'm paying $40 a month for 6mb/3mb. Can anyone tell me what is entailed in adding more ports to the router?

Bonded DSL maybe turning up in Northern Texas
(Thanks to the push by the direct response forum link) .... I just called into the business lines and it sounds like they are taking orders for Bonded DSL (up to 15 Mbps) in Northern Texas (max 2 lines). I have an install date where they will be coming to drop the 4th HSI circuit (or more like 4th and 5th).
Now the twisted part ... I am going from $99.99 + $10 for static down to $89.99 ....
So crossed fingers for those in the Texoma and Texakarna areas ..... a little bit more bit juice!
