Frontier Management, Your key customer influencers are on these forums. If you don't get things up and running soon, my neighbors who can't log into their accounts, or who laugh at the "something went wrong" message on the Frontier TV wesbite when they try to log in, will be looking for other options. How about an honest assessment of what's going on, and when we can expect "stuff" to work right?

[TV] VantageTV Firmware CT (Update 2.6) - New Look / Netflix Support

It appears that the Frontier VantageTV firmware(mediaroom 2.6) has been rolling out to a few customers in Connecticut this morning. I do not currently have it, but figured I would make this post in preparation of any posts. The main changes with the VantageTV firmware are *supposed* to be = - New VantageTV branding in the place of FrontierTV - Updated UI with a reddish coloring on the main menu - Netflix compatibility on your Frontier receiver. Accessed by going to On Demand or channel 800. - "Restart" which lets you watch a show from the beginning that is currently or has already aired. Not sure of the time limits, Bell sets it at 30 hours after it aired it seems. (EDIT: THIS IS CURRENTLY NOT ACTIVE AT THIS TIME ON THE NEW FIRMWARE) - "On Now Guide" which lets you see the programs that are currently airing, a bar displaying how much time is left, and a stream of the channel in the guide. I do not suggest this for older VIP1200, VIP1225, and VIP1216 model STBs due to limited resources. - "Recent Peak" lets you have a menu that drops down to let you quickly access the last 5 channels you have viewed. - EDIT: In addition, the bottom menu now displays pictures on a bar for upcoming programs that you can scroll through. - EDIT: There appears to now be the option of choosing 1080p in addition to 1080i. - EDIT: Guide filtering by channel category(I believe this is new, not sure) Please post if you receive this update and what model receiver you're using. Not sure on what's going to happen to the plan names, if they'll change to from ex. FrontierTV Prime to VantageTV Prime. There doesn't seem to be any information about that at the moment. EDIT: Yes, it seems that services will be re-branded into Frontier Vantage services. On a side note, the sub-channel "Antenna TV" is coming to Connecticut on April 22nd on channel 81 according to the message center. There aren't really any Frontier pictures/videos for this. The pictures in the user guide are blurry. Here are pictures from *Bell/Bell Aliant* that show the features for the first two pictures. Below them are the only Frontiers picture I could find that aren't bad quality. EDIT: See the post a few down for the Frontier video discussing the firmware. [att=1] [att=2] [att=4] [att=3]

I guess it was too much to hope for, but all the special channel access such as HBOGO do not yet work for those of us just migrated from Verizon to Frontier.

50/50 to 75/75 Upgrade

I am an X-Verizon fios customer and have plans to upgrade to the 75/75 on Monday. Couple questions: - Can I use my existing wires in the house (CAT5E) - I have verified a network drop in every room - I am currently on COAX, will I be switched Ethernet. - I can't stand the GS1100 (poor wireless) so I use two routers R7500 and an N900, these two routers are awful in AP mode but work great as a router. - Is there anything I can do in preparation - Is there a router I buy or can I use either the R7500 or the N900 Note: I do not have phone service or cable service and I have the Motorola ONT1000GJ4 Concerns: - Frontier showing up, I know they are going through some challenges right now. - I will be forced to use the same GS1100 (no bridge mode) Thanks in advanced

I just made th decided to go back to Time Warner Cable after having FiOS for 7.5 years. Prior to the buyout by Frontier I had no problems with my services from Verizon. After reading about price hikes with Frontier and frustrations with Customer Services calls I decided to ditch FiOS (even though I have had no technical issues on my end, purly in anticipation of). Has anybody considered making the switch, or already made the switch?

[FIOS] FL: No TV for 12 days with no help

On 4/4 My only TV STB A Quantum DVR Arris VMS1100 came up with a screen stating Video Media Server Error 11010 - There is nothing wrong with your tv service blah blah blah. Find out this is a error message when you dont pay your bill. I know I was current with my bill , checked frontier they said I was fine did trouble shooting nothing worked . 3 days go by and on 4/7 I call the office of the president and I spent the last 8 days dealing with them . Failed attempts to fixed the issue. Forced me to buy a Tivo Bolt ( I have 3 cable cards still on my account from when I had 2 Centon Infinitv 6 cards and a HD Home RUN ) I never removed them so I figured best to just get a tivo get the one of the cards re married to the reciever and call it a day I keep getting no call backs and no help from regular technical support. Then they have the nerve to say I dont know why your upset your getting a service credit. I told them i could not care less about a credit I had not even asked for as a credit does not resolve the outstanding issues. my internet is still all over the place and i am just exhausted from talking to those people -- And that's the bottom line "Cause Stonecold Said So!"

[FIOS] Internet down in Brandon (Just outside Tampa)

Around 10PM on the 14th my internet went out. It seems like the ONT was re-provisioned incorrectly as the MoCA and Ethernet ports on the ONT are now both disabled. I tried calling tech support and they were unable to re-provision the ONT and scheduled me for a truck roll (Earliest the 18th, but tentatively scheduled for the 20th). I can see that the ONT is working in some fashion because I still have television (despite the VID light being dark on the ONT). PWR and NTWK are the only lights on. I'm not certain if it's just me, or others in my area as well. Is anybody else in Tampa/Brandon getting a dark ethernet/MoCA port? I thought I was lucky because I made it through the initial transition without loss of service or speed issues, and now I don't even have a lit ethernet port.

FrontierTV Mobile App

I know this app is discussed in the various "territory" threads, but I wanted to draw it out as a stand-alone topic so that progress on the app can be more visible. Today (4/8) the Android app seems stable in understanding that I am connected via my home WiFi. With this, In the Watch Now area I can see 125 channel tiles when the view is set to All. Most are locked. When I switch to Subscribed view I see nine local stations including one RSN. They all stream, although there are some incorrect channel information (e.g. in one case the channel is 11 (an SD channel), but the feed is in HD which would make it 511; in another case where both the SD (30) and HD (530) feeds are available that the 530 feed is actually a sub channel of the OTA channel, the HD version of 30). Then bottom line is that the subscription information is still hosed (consistent with what I see on the tv.frontier.com web site) because almost all of my subscribed channels are locked. The "coming soon" functionality is still missing with one exception: The "Watch on TV" icon on the lower right of a streamed channel window is back, and it works! When tapping my STB changed to the channel I was viewing on the tablet. Also "STB" is now on the view screen where your attached STB name used to be shown with Verizon's app. Tapping it shows "STB" (I only have one STB so that's what I would expect), but again Watch on TV works.

[DSL] Frontier Customer Support's Mistake?

A bit ago, we lost internet. I called to report it. After verification of account and all that, he did line tests. Nothing was amiss. He gave me an IP address to put in my browser 192.168.254.254. It wouldn't connect to that. So, he said that means the router is broken. In the back of my head, I was thinking that number doesn't sound right. He filed a ticket and said someone would install a new router next Wednesday. I was like ok. I mean, what could I say, really? After we hung up, the internet came back up. I googled the number. Apparently, it's a router's IP number? However, my router's IP address is somewhat different than that. I assume this means the router isn't broken and CS made a mistake. Is that correct?

Frontier Business Acct Down 4 days in Temecula, CA!

Today marks day four with no service! After repeated communication with customer support, including multiple promises that someone would call me back "soon", nothing is happening. 1. How do I get my service restored? 2. Does anyone know what the SLA recourse is for business FIOS? 3. I have 150/150 service with static IP's. Have lines with static IP's been restored? Thank you in advance for any advice!

Support Nightmare

Business FIOS connection went down in the 3:00 a.m. hour overnight. I've been on the phone with Frontier since around 7:45 a.m. It's now 10:25 a.m. and I'm STILL on hold, this time with the 5th rep. Getting nowhere. Phone reps can't do anything but look up the account, then communicate internally with their fiber/fios support team-- something we the customers cannot access directly. 3 hours later, still NO ticket created, still on hold, still no clues. Meanwhile, circuit has been down hard for 7 hours.

check your fios router's Networking Tab, go into Broadband/Coax and see if its waiting for "DHCP Lease" it'll take a few seconds then you'll see the light go out and it starts the process over an over. if thats the case call up tech support, tell them about this, they can reset the connection on their end and you'll get a green light/ connection, if they try to pass you off about a "outtage in your area" insist its something their tools will fix an either get forwarded to a tier that has the tools or the guy you're talking to will do it. the router will never reconnect on its own cause its not just a normal 2 hour lease error. I did this every time its happened 3 times since the Apr 1st events

terminate new fios install with ethernet

I'm about to order fios at 150/150 but they require me to either rent or purchase their provided modem/gateway, which i found out is running off coax. My house in question does not have an ONT device installed, which I assume will be done upon order and installation. From what i've gathered online, the Ethernet port should blast out some IP and allow me to run a cat5 cable straight from the ONT directly into a router of my choosing bypassing the frontier provided gateway all together. A couple of things I want done: -I don't want to double route my home network or "bridge" the frontier gateway to my router. If my above information is remotely accurate i should be able to bypass that. -I have ZERO plans to get phone or television with them, i'm perfectly fine with internet. -I save $200 by not buying their rubbish equipment. I have already contacted frontier with my proposed setup but they shot me down saying that fios MUST run through coax. I'm going to assume all those sales folks are either sticking to their pre-written script or have no clue what i'm talking about. Bottom line... has anyone gotten this setup? Know a number i need to call to get this rolling?????

[FIOS] Experience with Frontier so far (TX)

I've had Verizon FIOS since available in my area for 8? years now and have had less than 10mins of total downtime in that whole period. Suffice to say I've had extremely stable and reliable service. Then in the last 4 weeks I have had several outages as I could see my ip go from Verizon->Frontier pool and then back to Verizon (looks like failed switch over attempts). The worst outage being 5 hours long. In the upcoming hand over I was unsure of Frontier's pricing so I signed up to upgrade from 75/75 to 150/150 on March 31st.. however my 'upgrade' would not be scheduled until 4/16 due to them needing to come out and inspect my ONT. I know its a BPON, thus they would need to upgrade to GPON so I could get 100+ speed. I live on the internet and do speed tests all the time, and anytime I've done speed test for the past several years I always get 83/89 which is excellent and always been a great thing about fios (actually get slightly better speeds than your provisioning). Today is the upgrade day.. window they provide is 8am-5pm... here it is at 4pm so far no call/no show. Also since midnight I see that my speeds have dropped 64/59 (yesterday was the same 83/89). I've confirmed with multiple speed tests and have ran new speed test every 2 hours since 2am to see if it was just some fluke/congestion issue but it looks like I got downgraded to the 50/50 provisioning?

The impossible is now possible. Bonded DSL incoming!
