'Frontier Direct' forum on DSLReports?

Being moved from Verizon to Frontier in California. Had good luck dealing with Verizon support using 'Verizon Direct' forum on DSLReports. Do not see a 'Frontier Direct' equivalent - is there an option to reach Frontier directly without going through the customer service phone line? Thx, Scott

[DSL] Frontier Victim in WV

Yes, I am a victim of Frontier Internet Service. I Live outside Clarksburg, WV where I am told i can get "Up to" 6 Mbps. The "up to" part of that phrase is very important because anything "up to" 6 Mbps is apparently acceptable. I have been waiting for 3 days for the technicians to arrive. I was scheduled for Saturday. Early that afternoon I received a call saying I had been taken off the schedule. I was told I would have an appointment before noon on Morning. I waited (and called) all day. I was assured each time that yes, I am on the schedule and someone will be there. No one arrived. At almost noon on Tuesday, I am still waiting, and calling. No one can tell me anything other than that I am on the schedule and someone will be here today. Since this is the same response I have gotten since Saturday, I'm not feeling any confidence about this appointment. I pay a fee each month for line maintenance. Apparently their maintenance plan, like their customer and internet service is sporadic at best and not at all worth the amount I am paying each month. What is my next step? Help is greatly appreciated as I am at wits end and losing work hours.

[Other] New Feature - Reboot Modem Online(CT only? Maybe FiOS?)

In addition to the ability to reboot your receivers through the My Frontier app/on your account online, they seem to have added the ability to also reboot your modem online. I don't have the app installed to confirm if it's working on there too, but I would assume so. If it's not, then I guess it's coming soon to that.

DSL Modem disconnects every day from ~6pm to early morning

Fairly recently (past 2 months) our DSL connection has been disconnecting at the same time every day. The DSL link is spotty, but often shows it has a connection at normal speed; though the internet light stays red. If I move the modem to the test jack outside, everything works just fine for a while, but speed deteriorates/jumps around .. I'm assuming there might be a slight nick or short somewhere in that dongle (?) or whatever its called. We only have DSL service, no phone or anything. No special events happen in our household at that time, we live on a lane with only one other house, and we are at the very end of the lines that power our houses. We live in a very rural area and they are farm owners. Is it possible there could be something coming on at THEIR house that could cause us issues? I'm at a loss of how to troubleshoot what's going on, it's a very frustrating situation. I would be just fine using the test jack if it was stable, but no tech will come out because when they run a line test to our house it shows as ok. Any help or hint would be greatly appreciated, thanks. Modem/router: Netgear B90 Rev: 5A

[FIOS] Anyone using Ubiquiti AP's and USG instead of Actiontec with FIOS?

Looking to find a more robust method of delivering wireless is my modest home. I run with ethernet out of the ONT as I'm using a cable card with Tivo so I do not require the MOCA/HPNA. Was looking into the Unifi products for perhaps a couple of access points around the house. Was just curious if anyone was using a setup like that in their homes or small business. TIA

[DSL] 2Mbps instead of 1Mbps up for $5 extra on bonded plans

Frontier randomly changed my provisioning after having 12/2 for four years down to 12/1 and then tried to up-sell me to what I had last week for $5 extra a month. On the bright side it seems there is an option now for 2Mbps for a little extra if you have bonded DSL. Still fighting to get my upload back.

Got faster DSL but only through 1 phone jack. Other jacks won't work

Frontier told me I could reduce the amount I was paying for internet by upgrading my service. I also have a landline phone through them. They said they would waive the installation fee as someone needed to come out to the house and do something to get the upgrade. So the service guy came out yesterday and had a lot of trouble getting the internet to work. He ended up getting into the wire and messing around and eventually he told me that he could only get it to work through one phone jack. I have 4 phone jacks and before the service guy came all jacks worked and could be used for phone and internet. After the guy comes and changes stuff I can only use 1 jack in my house for phone or internet. He claimed there was some interference that wasn't allowing it to work with the wire that fed the other jacks. He said my options were to leave it as it was with only 1 jack working now or I could pay him to investigate what the issue was and that Frontier would start charging me around $90 for the first half hour. This all doesn't sit right with me. If the lines worked before he started changing stuff, why is this now my issue that I have to pay to fix when Frontier had told me they weren't charging me to install the better service. Didn't they break something? If it worked before they changed stuff, how is this my fault? If this is legitimate, I'd really like to understand. I didn't think I was signing up to not have service in my other jacks so I could have faster service. That wasn't the agreement. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

[FiOS] Competition for Frontier FiOS?

Portland and surrounding suburbs being considered by Google Fiber... Google says it may bring its hyper-fast, Google Fiber service to Portland. A decision could come later this year. Here's a Q&A on what's happening. If you have other questions, send them along and I'll try to get answers from Google. Q. What’s happening? A. Google is contemplating bringing its Google Fiber high-speed Internet service to the Portland area, and to eight other metro areas. Google Fiber Get the lowdown on Google's plans in our main article. Q. Which Oregon cities is Google considering? A. Google says it’s looking at Portland, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Gresham, Lake Oswego and Tigard. Q. Will every neighborhood in those cities get fiber? A. No. Google says it will build in “fiberhoods” that have a critical mass of customers. Q. What other metro area are under consideration? A. Raleigh-Durham, N.C.; Charlotte, N.C.; Nashville, Tenn.; San Antonio, Tex.; Phoenix, Ariz.; Salt Lake City, Utah; San Jose, Calif.; Atlanta, Ga. Google Fiber already operates in Kansas City and in Provo, and is coming to Austin. This is strange... I was just assigned a new IP address out of what appears Palo Alto. I'm located in Everett,WA. Maybe this is just a reallocation of space. Doesn't appear to impact performance. Anyone else seeing this?

Congestion going through AT&T networks?

$

So I just decided to make a new topic on this since it doesn't seem to appear that Frontier's network is congested, instead rather connecting to certain AT&T servers is where the problem lies. Anyways when connecting to the WoW server I play on that is located in Chicago the past couple of nights have looked like this: http://i.imgur.com/LiReNrD.jpg Originally I thought things were cleared up but I guess not, anyone else play on Chicago based servers noticing anything? I've been told it could just be a congested hop on the AT&T network but it was fine a couple of days ago. Maybe a tech or something can explain as my ping in everything else seems to be fine, it's just WoW that's having the issue. Edit: As soon as I got done posting this at like 9:05 pm the ping is lowering. It's been spiking all day though from like 4 pm onward. Back to around 30 now.

[TV] TV.Frontier.com+FrontierTV App-Supports FiOS+FrontierTV

**PLEASE NOTE: At this time, https://tv.frontier.com and the support for more customers on the app(unless the app is just glitching for FiOS) are works in progress. I would assume we aren't even supposed to know about this currently. Expect most things to not work properly and many features to be missing. If someone finds something I missed/forgot to include from the other thread, please mention it. This was discussed in the https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30572430-FIOS-Verizon-CA-TX-FL-FAQ thread, however due to it discussing more customers than just those in the sale, I figured it would help to make a separate thread to discuss it. I saw the TV.Frontier.com link a while ago, but I just figured it was never working. darcilicious mentioned to me that it was working and to check my ad blocking(which seems to have fixed that problem) TV.Frontier.com - - Can be used with any Frontier TV account type(current FiOS, CT(FrontierTV), and assuming any VantageTV/future FiOS markets) - Currently only features a guide/live TV function - Live TV function requires a plugin currently(reported by darcilicious) - app called "FrontierPlayer" - Live TV selection seems to be currently limited - Allows sorting by non-subscribed/subscribed channels and channel search Features that *seem* to be coming: - Search by show - DVR search - DVR functionality(record, etc.) - View when a show is airing(by channel/time) - Supposedly movie/PPV availability - On Demand Current CT customers have the availability of FrontierTV.frontier.com which I assume that TV.Frontier.com will be replacing. FrontierTV App Changes - darcilicious mentioned to me that the app now lets (current)FiOS customers log into it - Content doesn't seem to be playable *yet* - Might just be a glitch letting FiOS users log in, but it likely is pointing towards future FiOS compatibility. - Durham customers have a "beta" version of this app available it seems that has a very similar guide UI to the current FiOS mobile app provided by Verizon. - Some CT customers still report having it display that content is not part of your package. If you see the message, you should try contacting support to see what happens. [att=1]

[DSL] I am done with Frontier!

Hello, this is ZPower124! I have had Frontier for well over 7 years now... their infrastructure has NEVER been upgraded.. Same damn 3MBPS.. Where I live (Up by Canada area) there is a DSLAM in the WEEDS and in the summer you cannot even see it, due to the weeds getting very high! I have called a general manager and they took 5 dollars off of our monthly bill! Like that makes up for getting 0.12MBPS and a ping that never goes under 200.. All games are unplayable! I have contacted LOCAL staff and gave them 17 pages of the issues of Frontier... Amazingly they came back and said it was all true. Are their ANY other ways other than Satellite to get faster internet! But what really bothers me, down the road from our house, less then 2 miles away is a fiber-optic line with 600MBPS+ connections. One time while playing CS:GO I was asked,"Are you playing in a shack in the woods with that ping," I have disconnected all devices but one Ethernet PC and only got 0.5MBPS! With a ping of 600MS (I tested today) The issue is congestion, that no one will do anything about..... Can someone explain the possibility of buying my own DSLAM... We have already attempted to go to other extreme measures to get better internet... With all due respect, ZPower Edited to remove profanity grobinette

[DSL] Is bonding not a benefit for slow connections? (e.g. 1.5 Mbit)

$

Stuck in rural land with a long enough line length to limit peak bw to 1.5 Mbit, I think my best hope is to get bonded service to potentially allow up to 3 Mbit. (I'd finally cross into the Netflix world, albeit on the edge) Anyway- Frontier seems to think that because I'm only seeing 1.5Mbit right now (while paying for 6Mbit service), that I won't see any benefit from a bonded connection, so they refuse to try it. I'm willing to pay the 12Mbit price for that 3Mbit, btw! Unless there's something about DSL tech I don't understand, this doesn't make any sense to me. I've bonded ethernet connections before- the result is always x2 bw increase. They certainly seem to think it can turn 6 Mbit into 12 Mbit by using two lines. So why not 1.5 Mbit into 3 Mbit? Am I missing something?

Frontier's Update to Internet Terms of Service - March 2016

I just got an email from Frontier that they have updated the terms of service, it doesn't state what the specific changes are, but provides a full copy of the new terms. Has anyone been able to compare the terms of service to see what the differences are? They have PDF's of old ("former") and new terms of service at: https://frontier.com/terms

Is it possible to order these at a residence? I saw online there is a 40Mb plan, but they only offer 24Mb on the residential side. I'm guessing this would be bonded dsl or vdsl, would they also have higher upload too?
