I have no internet this morning. It looks like it went out some time around 6:30. Is anyone else having problems?
I had to leave for work, so I couldn't troubleshoot the issue. I just did the typical router reset and ONT reset, but that didn't solve the issue.

[FiOS] Verizon CA, TX, FL FAQ
Just wanted to let everyone know that Frontier has made a little FAQ for the sale. I don't think it's complete yet, but it's located here:
http://meetfrontier.com/residential-faqs
http://meetfrontier.com/business-faqs
http://meetfrontier.com/enterprise-faqs
Sorry if this has already been posted here.
Here are some I thought were the more important ones:
Q:
Will my Verizon email be closed at some future date?
A:
You can keep your @verizon.net email address forever, but if you take required action . Verizon has arranged with AOL to allow you to continue using your @verizon.net email account for as long as you wish. To do so, you must activate your account with AOL Mail no later than March 29, 2016. Please refer to the Verizon/AOL Mail FAQ for Florida, California and Texas customers at https://www.verizon.com/support/consumer/email for more information.
Q:
Will my download and upload speeds change on either my FiOS® or High-Speed Internet service?
A:
No, your speeds will not change. Frontier will maintain the same speeds you previously had with Verizon.
Q:
Will my residential directory listing change?
A:
We know your directory listing is important to you. Your directory listing, including your decision to employ an unlisted telephone number, will continue with Frontier as it is currently set with Verizon.
Q:
Does Frontier offer a mobile app for smart phones or tablets? - Under voice section
A:
Yes. Frontier offers a full-service feature app for iOS and Android-powered mobile devices that allows you to:
- Access your Frontier FiOS Digital Voice call logs
- Listen to your voice mail without dialing an access number
- Turn on/off and manage numbers for Call Forwarding, Simultaneous Ring, Do Not Disturb and Incoming Call Block
- Manage your voice mail settings
Q:
Will I lose any of my features and functionality with my FiOS TV set-top box?
A:
Frontier will provide the same equipment, including DVRs, set-top boxes and remote controls.
(The wording of this one and similar questions are interesting, I assume you're losing certain DVR features that involve app/online access).
Q:
Will my FiOS TV channel lineup change?
A:
Yes, Frontier is supporting the same TV packages. In addition, Frontier will add our Select tiers. You can choose Select Family for family-friendly entertainment, Select Movies for great choices in new and classic movies, or Select Sports with a rich sports lineup. Frontier will not offer Custom TV to new customers.
(Your tier choices will be similar to what is offered in CT with regards to those Select options it seems)
Q:
Will my static IP address change?
A:
Yes, your static IP address will change. Frontier will contact you after April 2016 to provide instructions for resetting your new IP address.

[FiOS] What is the current Best and least expensive Battery?
It is now beeping again. It seems that my last battery has lasted a little less than 3 years. We have not even had any Power Failures here.
Is there a good battery I should look for? The prices seem to be all over the map!

[DSL] BONDED ADSL2+ SERVICE
I have a Frontier issued Actiontec F2250 modem/router, and I have bonded DSL service 24 down and 2 up. When I run a speed test, the numbers are on the mark everytime. My problem is that while gaming on a hardwired connection, anytime anyone else accesses the wireless connection, my ping spikes from a normal 20-30 to over 700. Makes any game unplayable.
I have two questions . . . is there a setting in the modem/router which my be causing this? AND if I buy my own modem/router, do I need a certain type of router since my service is bonded?

Vizio smart TV requires Minimum security on Netgear 7550 router
I have a Vizio smart tv that only works correctly when my Netgear 7550 router is set to Minimum / low security setting. But that allows the router to be visible on the internet. Is there any way to use this setting but still have the router be private? Would port forwarding or DMZ be of any use?
I have called Frontier and they tried to tell me to turn off security on the router all together. That sounds ridiculous to me.
From the router:
Minimum Security (Low)
The low security setting will allow all traffic except for known attacks. With low, your modem is visible by other computers on the Internet.

[Internet] New Frontier Terms includes "data usage charges" wording...
While this may just be good ol fashioned paranoia, I happened to notice that the new terms and conditions contains a section "NETWORK MANAGEMENT, USAGE LIMITATIONS AND FAIR USE POLICY", which worries me a little given all the data caps being imposed everywhere else, especially when reading section it clearly states:
"Reasonable network management practices that Frontier may adopt include, but are not limited to, the following: (i) data usage charges; (ii) a modification of a customer's serving facility or service technology; and/or, (iii) a modification of or a limitation on a customers data throughput speed or data consumption.
We're not a super heavy user, but I'd guess we're in the 500gb/month range; so I'm not sure what they think is excessive and this seems pretty open ended to me. I think I'll opt out of the new terms for now as it appears that the old terms were better for me and all.
For those wondering, you just need to call 1-855-520-7258 within 30 days and opt out to only be subject to the old terms.
Here is a link to the old terms: https://frontier.com/docs/terms/terms_frontierbroadband_termsandconditions_011415.pdf
Here is a link to the new terms: https://frontier.com/docs/terms/terms_frontierbroadband_termsandconditions_121015.pdf
If anyone catches anything else, I'd really be interested in bringing it to light here. This doesn't seem very pro-consumer to me.

Can I use the Actiontec MI42WR Rev. I as a modem for another router?
I would like to know if I can connect a Nighthawk AC1900 (Model R6900) to my current router (modem router?), and use it for wifi because of it's better wifi range and general connectivity. The Actiontec is the only one out of the 2 that can be plugged into our coax cable to get a signal straight from the wall so if we can't get the two of them to work together then I guess the people far away from the router will have to deal with 1-2 bars for wifi.
Thanks in advance everyone!

[Internet] Frontier speed as really promised?
Hi I don't have Frontier yet. I am considering jumping with them because of the deal that they offer 2 years with amazon prime or 3 years no change in price. I am concerned about the speeds they offer.
Now I am using Mediacom and they have 15mb for me, but really they're giving me 25 and i don't like the data caps limiting at 250gb. I spoke with a guy in the same town, he only now gets up to 3mb, but a few streets away from me, there's a consumer that supposedly have 24.. and only can max at 20 according to frontier chat using my street address. I explained about a person only have 3, but the chat said that different terminals can change the way it is. I am in a newer subdivision however, maybe newer wires, etc could get higher than I thought. I wondered are they being truthful or am i really stuck at 3 if I choose that?

[FIOS] Frontier Routing & Hurricane Electric IPv6 Tunnel Broker
Not sure how many folks here use Hurricane Electric's IPv6 tunnel broker service in WA state. I am hoping to get some validation of an issue. I recently noticed a latency increase in my IPv6 traffic. It seems that routing may have changed. My tunnel traffic use to terminate in Seattle. Now it appears to route all the way down to Palo Alto to reach the he.net backbone which then gets routed back to the IPv6 tunnel server in Seattle. Does anyone else see this?

[TV] Vizio TV no signal again.
So there was a outage I. Our area this evening and it affected the wifi and cable. My wifi boxes are back up and running but the hardlined box is not working. It just says no signal on the tv. Is there any way that when my darling husband unhooked everything to try and hook up a DVD player it affected the connection between the cable box and the TV? Can it be reconfigured here by myself or do I need a tech to come check the box? I have reset the modem, the wifi box and the cable box itself and it's still saying no signal. But like I said the wifi cable boxes are just fine and I can watch tv on them.

[DSL] I am fuckin done with this Frontier SHIT!
Hello, this is ZPower124! I have had Frontier for well over 7 years now... their infrastructure has NEVER been upgraded.. Same damn 3MBPS.. Where I live (Up by Canada area) there is a DSLAM in the WEEDS and in the summer you cannot even see it, due to the weeds getting very high! I have called a general manager and they took 5 dollars off of our monthly bill! Like that makes up for getting 0.12MBPS and a ping that never goes under 200.. All games are unplayable!
I have contacted LOCAL staff and gave them 17 pages of the issues of Frontier... Amazingly they came back and said it was all true.
Are their ANY other ways other than Satellite to get faster internet! But what really bothers me, down the road from our house, less then 2 miles away is a fiber-optic line with 600MBPS+ connections. One time while playing CS:GO I was asked,"Are you playing in a shack in the woods with that ping,"
I have disconnected all devices but one Ethernet PC and only got 0.5MBPS! With a ping of 600MS (I tested today)
The issue is congestion, that no one will do anything about..... Can someone explain the possibility of buying my own DSLAM... We have already attempted to go to other extreme measures to get better internet...
With all due respect,
ZPower

Upgrades
Last night on the phone with tech support, the tech told me that they are upgrading the dslams in my area. I have also been told about 3years ago that upgrades are coming, I have not yet seen. Is there a way to check for sure that said upgrades are coming, and it wasn't just lip service to pascify me?

Voice mail in CT is rinky-dink
A while back the voice mail system was changed from the "standard" admin codes - at least they were the same as every other system I have used to a completely different number scheme that is missing functionality.
A message cannot be erased - It automatically is saved.
There is no code for getting time/caller ID stamp.
It is really a quick & dirty system. Not very robust.

[Internet] Stalls during page loading
Anyone in the CT market having problems with pages stalling during loading recently? For the last couple of days I often have to stop the page load, then hit the refresh button, to get a page to fully load. Sometimes the page load hangs all together.
Normally use the Frontier DNS servers on the NVG589 router.
Primary DNS 74.40.74.40
Secondary DNS 74.40.74.41
Primary DNS Name dns1.anycast.frontiernet.net
Secondary DNS Name dns2.anycast.frontiernet.net
Have tried hard coding alternate DNS servers into the PC but problem while better still remains from time to time. Happening to multiple PC's (Windows 7 and Windows 10).

Dedicated Internet Access contact info
Does anyone have a sales contact number for the business division that handles dedicated internet access (ethernet / fiber). Trying to help out a non profit in a remote location in Frontier territory. The DIA section of the frontier website has no phone number, the normal customer service line had no clue and they haven't responded to my online inquiry for 10 days.
Thanks.
