[DSL] Got the Arris443b to replace NetgearDM111psp, Nothing but Problems

Hi Guys and Gals, I'm about to toss this new Arris 443B its the most sensitive modem/router I've ever owned and I've owned a lot of em. Okay first off the old NetgearDm111psp was dropping devices off its network and required reboots. So I figured lets go with the new Frontier Arris system. First off my netgear never dropped connections, maybe 2 times a month during storms and would reestablish a connection in less than 20 seconds. But this Arris it drops connections at least every hour or two. Now I'm a last mile customer on a loop extender/repeater (SNRdn#14.9 and SNRup#10.9) (Attenuation 50.0 down 40.4 UP) Link speeds down 4416 Up443 with Attainable Rate of down6048 Up604 PPPoE. My question why would this modem be dropping so much compared to my previous netgear. Also this Arris Frontier modem literally take 5-10 minutes to reestablish the connection, Something I've noticed with other Frontier branded modems. If anyone knows of a modem that is hardier more able to handle weak connections please advice me and I will easily replace this frontier junk. Cant believe the DNS server is hard coded as well ugh. Thanks for any help.

Help properly connection Linksys Velop to NVG443B modem

Hello all, I'm trying to improve my in-laws wifi signal across their home with a Linksys Velop AC2200 3 node set up, but my NVG443B modem seems to really not like it at all. I've tried every thread I could find out there and I still either get the modem dropping consistently, or very bad packet loss as the only desktop connected via ether-net on the system to the Main node. I'm not the most network savvy person so any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I retry the DMZ fix to disable the router on my modem, or should I just give up on the Velop system and just run the Wifi from the modem. I'm at a loss and have spent too much time trying to make this work. Thanks for your time.

[FIOS] DNS outage?

Here in North Texas, it appears the default DNS servers are down. I switched to OpenDNS on the router, and everything is back to normal. Anyone else notice issues getting to most anything on the net unless you have the IP address?

I encourage everyone to go to Twitter and complain to frontier about these ongoing and frankly stupid outages. #DefundFrontier hopefully in the message as we should not let a company pled to get bankruptcy protection when they cant even smart enough to keep the service working.

[FIOS] Gig Service Question/Issues

I upgraded from 500/500 this week. Prior to the upgrade, I was consistently receiving 515/515 up/down speeds. After the upgrade on 7/7...the best I'm getting is 750/650 up/down. I have logged into my routers config and tested the speeds from there and it's showing about 920/869 in the router utilities speed test section. So it appears that I'm getting gig speed to the router from the ONT. From the router to my device, appears to be where I am seeing the speed reduction but I can't figure out why. Does anyone have any ideas?

[DSL] Frontier's future and Chapter 11

I am at a relatives home in Horton MI with Frontier DSL service. Coming from Comcast Gigabit it's a bit of a speed setback to 3MB service. What does the future hold for current Frontier customers? In ME,NH and VT "Fairpoint Communications" needed to restructure and became "Consolidated Communications" and would think something similar would happen with Frontier? I see to often that name changes don't change the service to the customer.

Received the new firmware 4 days ago. Broke port forwards for a second router set in the DMZ. It looks like it also does not update DynDNS. My son has multiple folding computers on a secondary router on a different subnet. When the Arris router rebooted with the new firmware it broke some port forward rules on the secondary router. He is trying to fix it. Will let everybody know if he found a solution. EDIT: Had to do a Factory Reset of the router. All is working again.

I checked my speed and this is what a get should I call tech support or try the test againe in the middle of the night? Test was run from my linux server plugged straight in to the router. @nuc ~]$ speedtest-cli Retrieving speedtest.net configuration... Testing from Frontier Communications (47.147.147.239)... ADSL2+ Modem Question - Double NAT Issues

$

I just recently (finally) was able to upgrade to bonded DSL in my area and was given the dreaded Frontier/Arris NVG443B to replace my old 7550. While the speed increase has been super (3.7mb to the new ~12mb) i have been fighting a double NAT issue that's causing some pain. I use pfsense as my firewall/router for my home network, and i used to be able to bridge the 7550 and it was essentially fine. Now I have the NVG443B set with my pfsense instance in the DMZ, with the cascaded router settings, and while it essentially works; i have enough weird double NAT issues that I think I need to find a better solution. I have tried to set the Transparent Bridge mode on the NVG443B, but once I do the web interface throws "cgi-bin" errors on every GUI page. No config pages on the modem will load until a factory reset, and the PPPoE on pfsense won't connect as well. Right now, I have at least one device connected to wifi on the modem directly to bypass my home network (android TV because steaming services were really failing on the double NAT), and I occasionally have issues with my mobile devices and work machines (interferes with some tunneling and some VPN items for those). I'd really like to find a way to either turn of NAT in the Modem, Get the Transparent Bridge to work, or replace the modem with something that can bridge successfully. Any and all suggestions are welcome, and I apologize if this is similar to other posts

Anybody else experiencing slowness in the Tampa area right now? I'm only getting 6-10 Mb/s down right now, and my ping to the Frontier speedtest server is 35ms. It's happening with my router and when I directly connect into the ONT. Rebooting both does nothing.

Silly MoCA/AP adapter question

$

500/500 via ethernet, ONT to NVG468MQ. I've had tv until this week so a coax is run to where I wish to use a MoCA adapter to provide wired internet access in lieu of wireless. There is no coax coming from the NVG468MQ since it was a separate run direct to the tv room. In the past I would use an old Verizon router to set up an access point but since we're on Frontier now the old routers that I have from Verizon (non-Gig) aren't much of an advantage. A simple second NVG468MQ would be cheap but apparently they can't be truly bridged, though the IP address can apparently be shared. Can these be hardwired to use as an AP? Any better solution?

So I switched the router out for a Older Verizon Gateway an dit did the same thing none of th eport communicate Wifi works fine. I even unplugged the either net cable from the back of my router and plugged in a old Xfinity modem and I could Admin into that router with no problem. Therefore my eithernet port is working on my pc. Any suggestions ???
