Evening, everyone. The last 3 days i've been experiencing very slow internet speeds downstream in Garland, TX, from times 15mb/s all the way down to 100kb/s. Upload is anywhere from 30mb/s to it's normal of 150mb/s, and the main problem isn't the slow internet, but the complete hours-long network outages i've been observing. During these outages, I cannot access any WAN resource and cannot remote in from outside my network, tracert logs are below.
I've seen the issue described to a T by several individuals (https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31799359-Internet-down-Speed-degradation-FIOS and https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r31796108-FIOS-Fios-in-Dallas-slow-tonight) during this timeframe and while I usually use my own ASUS router, i've ruled out that any of my devices or equipment are causing the issue by factory resetting the FIOS 1100 junk router back to the gateway, and taking all other devices off the network, exact same issue for over 24 hours.
Widespread issue? I've called Frontier and been blown off twice, with one rep concluding that my router was malfunctioning and another rep scheduling a callback tomorrow by a higher-level technician (highly doubt they're calling back). I'd been with Verizon for over 6 years before Frontier came to town, but they replaced the ONT and cat5e cabling when they upgraded our internet speed to 150/150 last year. Haven't had a single problem with FIOS otherwise, Verizon or Frontier.
I'm no network technician, but let me know what other logs I can gather to help illustrate this issue.

[Email] Couple issues using Frontier/Yahoo email with Thunderbird
For quite some time (more than a year) I've been having two annoying issues with Frontier/Yahoo email.
I have frontier.com address. My email client (for many years now) is Thunderbird.
First issue: Frontier/Yahoo spam filtering. There used to be a setting to turn off spam filtering - but I can't find one in either the frontier account editor, or the frontier/yahoo web-mail interface. They're always improperly tagging a good number of legitimate emails as "spam".
Second issue: The frontier/yahoo pop servers don't honor my email client's settings to delete messages from the server when my email client downloads them. Downloaded messages are only moved from the web-mail inbox to the trash - where they accumulate.
Both of these issues force me to have to log into the web-mail periodically to move messages improperly tagged as spam back to my web-mail inbox, and to clean out the trash. I never used to be this way; and it's become very annoying.
Does anyone know how to completely turn off frontier/yahoo's spam filtering; and to have messages deleted (not just moved to a trash bin) after being downloaded to my email client?

[FIOS] Slow upload speeds?
Has anyone else noticed a sort of "throttling" on their upload speed lately? About a month ago Frontier "generously" magically seemed to bump my theoretical 150 mbps down to 200 mbps down, upload stayed the same with about 160 mbps up. However, as of late my upload speed is about half that, at about 75-80 mbps up. I thought that it might be my network so I plugged a computer into the ONT directly to publicly obtain an IP real quick and got the exact results. This "slow upload throttling" has been happening for about 3 weeks now and occurs at any time of day. I live in the Southlake area (more southwest of DFW), has anyone in this area noticed the same issues or is it just me, its not that big of a deal, but kind of a shoddy practice to advertise symmetrical upload speeds and not meet them but I am also not complaining about the extra +50 mbps increase in my download speed (It even still says that I am paying for 150/150). So what are your thoughts?

100M install standard router looking to add a Netgear Orbi
I have 100M over coax and want some advice on either turning off my radios and install my Orbis as AP, or turning the Actiontec into a bridge (or as close as it will come) and letting the Orbi do the routing.
My concern with the router it slows down with too many devices, or I sometimes lose static device (nest or HUE) connections and rebooting was the only way to reconnect to the router or regain the speed. Maybe it's a NAT table issue maybe not. thoughts?

Asymmetric MTU (1492 inbound/ingress; 1434 outbound/egress)? | VDSL2
I've been trying to deal with an issue that's been confounding me for the past year or so, in the quest to find any potential fix my horrendous online gaming experiences. Thus, I've drilled down to improper MTU settings as a possible source of my suffering.
I seem to auto-negotiate some weird MTU values with my service. Based on many tests, the LetMeCheckIt site, and OpenWRT pppoe-wan logs, my inbound/ingress MTU seems to be 1492. My outbound/egress MTU seems to be 1434. Is this normal? Should I set both inbound and outbound to 1434? Or leave inbound at 1492, and set the client device (PC/PlayStation) to 1434?
Somewhat interesting is, the Actiontec F2250 gateway Frontier gave me, if I run it as a combo router/modern, I'm unable to change any MTU settings. The inbound MTU is stuck at 1492 when using the F2250 as a router.
With my OpenWRT router, I can make more adjustments, including changing the WAN-side MTU (ingress/inbound). I can even manually override the default-negotiated outbound/egress MTU. Like I said, it normally defaults to 1434, but I can up it to 1492 manually deep in the OpenWRT settings, with seemingly no ill-effects (no extra lag, no fragmentation in testing).
This is all very confusing. I just want to figure out what the proper MTU settings are that I should be using, in order to avoid as much problems, undue lag, and fragmentation, as I possibly can.
Adding to the confusion, doing the Netalyzer online diagnostic test, there seems to be a hop in my path MTU that is acting as a bottleneck (blackhole?). Basically, this hop is near my home, and is apparently bottlenecking my MTU to 552. Not sure what this means, how it affects me, or whether the test result is even accurate.
I have 20/1 VDSL2+ in the south Sac area.

Frontier is misdirecting Netflix requests?
In October, some of my devices began having trouble playing certain episodes on Netflix. Example: episode 3 of a show won't play. 1, 2, and 4 play fine. If I switch devices, it plays. I figured it was an issue with Netflix that would self-resolve. (I'd go back days later and that specific episode still won't play on certain devices.)
In the last two weeks, our living room device (AppleTV A1625 released in 2015) stopped play anything from Netflix at all. The guide works, it shows which episodes have been played and even knows if an episode hasn't been finished. Won't play any video. Annoying as this is the main device we watch on, the one we like the best.
So, what to do? It works on our laptop and desktop, which have lots of troubleshooting options. The TV/tablet devices are struggling, they have few troubleshooting options. I haven't tried to find a resolution for this as I knew it would be a beast. Netflix would say call the devices maker, the device maker would say call my ISP... endless circle.
So I try connecting my AppleTV to my AT&T wifi hotspot on my phone. It works.
Smells like a ISP issue to me.
Contact support
So I was on the phone from 10:30am to 1:30pm today, basically in hell. I called Netflix first, as I figured their troubleshooting would be limited (uninstall the app and reinstall, did that work? Ok that's all I got) and that if other people were experiencing this issue, they might be tracking it. All they said was to 'call apple'.
Apple next. We try everything, I even factory reset the thing. No avail. Rep says next step is to call my ISP and stay on the phone so they can't send me back in a runaround. Great.
We get on the phone with a Frontier tech support person who basically resets my internet, resets my router, and says nothing else can be done. I could pay $12.99/mo for some form of advanced tech support...
Apple rep steps in and says no, I'll escalate to my next level tech support, which doesn't charge.
(After we hang up with Frontier, Apple rep says that is a low blow, ridiculous they want to sell me on that.)
So I get escalated at Apple. He reads through the other's notes then asks me to go to a laptop/desktop and try a [traceroute](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traceroute). Basically, you type in where you want to go, it gets the address, then tries to go there and records every server it hits on the way. If it hits a * that's either bad (it can't go that way and has to find another way) or it hit something like a restricted access or government server (happens, it has to find another way).
I don't want to copy/paste the results here, but I can censor them so you get the point. If I type in google.com I get:

... just keep repeating that last line. It's on 64 now since I tried again for this writeup and no result. :(
I think somewhere in that chain it's serving up Netflix content (either throttled or to 'be more efficient’ or some BS), but it's not doing a very good job and doesn't work with all devices. Also, if it's not working it should 'give up' and send me directly to Netflix instead of whatever misdirected purgatory I'm getting.
However, I can't get past level 1 tech support with Frontier. They're sending me a newer router (we have a Frontier rental as we were doing dusty construction when we moved in, was just getting around to getting our own.) I don't expect it to resolve the issue, just going to wait for it to arrive and call again. 3 hours is enough, I surrender for today.
Any ideas about what I can do, other than fire Frontier? I can switch to Spectrum, a different evil as we had reliability issues with them at an old address.

FTTH in Danbury, CT area?
I've been asked to post here about a short meeting with a Frontier tech who was hanging some cable in front of my house. There were two trucks and they were unspooling and hanging some moderately large cable going down the street.
When I asked him what they were putting in he said we would have "Fiber To The Home" soon! I thought that sounded pretty nice! I'm on Comcast now but fiber would be a big draw for me.

[Phone] Former Verizon users of NOMOROBO in CA, FL, and Texas
I just realized that NOMOROBO was not working for me anymore. It was improperly setup.
You need to one use a DIFFERENT Simultaneous ring Phone Number for Frontier. And it is probably turned off in your settings on Frontier. I had turned it on but not changed the phone number.
1. So you will need to logon to your account at NOMOROBO and change your Phone provider to say Frontier and it will ask you where you are located and give you the New Phone number to use.
2. Go into your Frontier FIOS Digital Voice and specify that phone number and activate Simultaneous ring.
3. Have NOMOROBO test to see if it is properly activated.
