Anyone else with an outage in N Texas?

All our services are out after today's storms. The tech I spoke with couldn't find any notice of wide outages in Texas (especially Plano where we are). Hoping to have a truck roll tomorrow, but couldn't get a firm window until Thu morning. Anyone else also having issues - holding out hope it is something they resolve centrally rather than an issue with our line or equipment.

[DSL] Slower DSL speeds since Frontier replaced Verizon

I am in a city in Southern California where Verizon's Telco services were sold to Frontier. I have been in the same place for many years and for the last ten years have consistently received (I typically speed test once or twice a month when I am not having any problems) about 12mbs via my ADSL. I am now getting an average of about 8mbs (and I have been testing often over the past six months). Perhaps once or twice a month I get a test result that matches my former good speeds. Frontier say that since I am provisioned for 7-15mbs, I have nothing to complain about. This misses the point. What I want to know is why my service has got so much worse. I am wondering whether they may have somehow degraded my service. I always thought that DSL was different from Cable in that one's line was not shared so that my problem could not just be that other customers were online with the bandwidth being shared between more users. Is this wrong? Is it in fact possible that my neighbours are simply using the internet more? Any thoughts on what I can to do resolve this problem would be welcome.

Using your own router

Hello, I previously had FIOS when frontier took over Verizon`s operation in Tampa. I had issues during the transition so I left frontier. I am moving soon to a new construction home and I am exploring options. Previously when I had FIOS, Verizon enabled the ethernet port on the ONT so I could use my own router and not have to use theirs. I am considering going back to Frontier but i see there is a $5 equipment rental fee. If I switch back to a frontier Internet only plan will Frontier enable ethernet from the ONT and allow me to use my own router, thus avoiding the $5 fee? It's not so much the fee, rather I want to use my own router and not use two with bridge etc etc. Thanks Matt

FTTH in Danbury, CT area?

I've been asked to post here about a short meeting with a Frontier tech who was hanging some cable in front of my house. There were two trucks and they were unspooling and hanging some moderately large cable going down the street. When I asked him what they were putting in he said we would have "Fiber To The Home" soon! I thought that sounded pretty nice! I'm on Comcast now but fiber would be a big draw for me. Here is a pic of the loop on the pole outside my house. The gray box is the Comcast cable, the loop below that is the new Frontier cable.

[FIOS] Any other frontier customers unable to reach verizonwireless.com?

I am a former Verizon FiOS customer, now Frontier FiOS in DFW. When I try to go to www.verizon.com, I get a 403 error. If I try to go to verizonwireless.com, it just sits loading indefinitely. Happens with any / all devices / OS / platforms (the ones I have anyway). This started for me within the last week or so. Have not been in town to try and look at it yet - wanted to check if it is just me, or if others are seeing the same trouble. I did factory reset my BHR, to no effect. Actual error on when I attempt to reach verizon.com is : "Access denied, in accordance with Verizon Information Security Policy Please contact us if there is a legitimate business need to access this content." The 'contact us' is a link for mailto:tickets@edgecast.com

Frontier DSL frequently drops

I am helping my father in law troubleshoot frequent loss of connect to his DSL modem - he lives outside of Plymouth, WI in a rural area. He says the loss of connection is now occurring once a day and can be resolved by rebooting the modem. He has a V1000W modem/wifi router issued by Frontier which appears to be connected to a dedicated outlet which I suspect is wired from the NID. There are two phones connected to jacks and neither of them appears to have filters, although it's possible that they are filtered at the NID? I tried calling the phone line a couple times, picking up and seeing if that disconnected the internet signal but it did not. Below is my line quality test history. Could someone suggest a diagnosis or other steps? http://www.dslreports.com/testhistory/1955745/120d8 Thanks

Over the last few months I have noticed a lot of activity(which seems to have stopped again) around our local area leading up to our DSLAM, and I am wondering if anyone knows anything. I have called Frontier, the state, and even stopped and talked to one of the Frontier workers and no one knew or is willing to spill the beans. It sure would be nice to have an actual update. Also, on a side note, what would cause my internet to be interrupted when a phone call comes in and I pick it up? It can ring without issue, but if you pick up the phone to make or accept a call the net will cut off for like 10 minutes. The filter is new, the house and phone lines are all new...and this is a new issue. Just curious.

FIOS Regional Sports Fee

I signed up recently for the Ultimate Package in Texas and I thought the package included all regional sports channels and fees. My bills reflect an additional Regional Sports Fee of $5.89. Is that a normal charge for Frontier? Thanks!

Internet/TV outage for 1 wk - rep claims it's known multistate issue

After 2 months of good FIOS service, I've had internet tv outages for over a week now where every 5 to 30 minutes the Internet drops for several minutes, and at roughly the same time I lose TV as well. I checked all my signals and then watched my ONT box. During outages the power LED stays lit, but I see the Transport and RF Video lights go out. They eventually start blinking an eventually come back on. It sort of looks like the box keeps resetting. I called FIOS support who first kept mispelling my email and saying it's been a long long day, and after I described the issue they asked where I was from. I indicated Portland Oregon. The response was "Oh there's all sorts of problems there, and other states too and we're working round the clock to fix it". That was the extant of the info I received sadly. I've done some searching and see no reports of a widespread outage, and a friend with FIOS 2 miles away has no issues. Anyhow I was curious if this is a standard "I want to go home" response from support and if I should keep calling in.

Is there any way to get notified of IP address changes?

We're finding that our IP address is changing more frequently than it did under Verizon which breaks our security camera remote monitoring until we see the new address. Is there any way to get an automatic notification when it changes. I can obviously see the new address when home and signed into the router, but I don't know of a way to get the new address if I am out of town.

Astronomical ping times

I have been dealing with a terrible Frontier DSL line for a while now but this is really taking "terrible" to a whole new level... modem is a TP-LINK TD-W8960N in bridge mode. The modem seems to hold a connection better than the frontier-provided Netgear modem however I have never seen pings over 500ms on the Frontier modem. For a while I thought it was an issue on Frontier's end, but it was just that the ping tools I had used before wouldn't "listen" for longer than 3 seconds... why should they after all? 😳 Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reduce the ping to something sane?

[DSL] Fastest DSL speed

Hello all. I am moving to a new house in about a month, and my choice currently for Internet is either cable (which I use now for Internet) or Frontier DSL. The best speed the online chat rep said I can get is 24Mbps down. Any chance that might increase in the future?

I really don't think Frontier can suck anymore than they do in Weaverville,NC. Absolutely sucks all the time. Up down every damn day. I'm so tired of paying them $30.00 a month for this shit DSL connection. Can't get support to do a damn thing. Truly hate Frontier. I"ve hated them since they day they started.

Hi guys, Got tired of all the new Frontier subs getting such good deals when I have been a 14 year Verizon/Frontier fios customer and always seem to get weak sauce discounts offered. Called and got a customer retention person that cut my bill almost in half from 280 a month to 158 a month, all in. Is this a good deal, in the opinion of you forum friends? Firmware was upgraded from F2250-36.128L.02 to F2250-36.128L.09 I got the following page while trying to browse the internet before and after I done the firmware upgrade... FIRMWARE UPGRADE REQUIRED You are required to upgrade your Frontier provided modem firmware to a newer version. Please follow the following steps to update the modem. This process only takes 5 to 7 minutes. If you should have any questions or need assistance, please call our Technical Support Group at 1 (800) 921 - 8104 or click here to chat live.

Anyone ever gotten error code 2202-107 after cold boot?

See attached. I just got off tech support chat and they said they'd have to send me another DVR. However, everything was working on my DVR except I could not download the Netflix widget, which prompted me to try cold booting the main box. I tried all of the options on the screen before contacting frontier, even rebooting the ONT. I have a hard time believing a cold boot bricked this device. The other image is my device version info so I know I was on an older firmware.

pricing verification

Made some changes to my account and got a price that I think is "too good to be true". Basically, 75/75 internet bundled with the personal security bundle for $39.99 a month for a year. So I called back and spoke with three different people to validate. Everyone says that pricing CANNOT be verified after an order is placed, and that I just have to wait for my first bill with the changes. And if the price is wrong, to call back then to discuss what other offers might be available to me. What kind of business can't quote the price you are paying for service????? Is it just me, or is this ridiculous? Robert
