Just received an unsolicited email from Frontier stating that they have provided me a complimentary upgrade in speed from 25/25 to 50/50 at no extra charge. "Thanks for being a long time customer." I won't have a chance too check speeds until I get home later tonight. I'm in N. Texas.

I upgraded to the latest firmware and I still get this message. When I tried to call in they said it was a known issue and no expected time to resolve the issue. Firmware was upgraded from F2250-36.128L.02 to F2250-36.128L.09 I got the following page while trying to browse the internet before and after I done the firmware upgrade... FIRMWARE UPGRADE REQUIRED You are required to upgrade your Frontier provided modem firmware to a newer version. Please follow the following steps to update the modem. This process only takes 5 to 7 minutes. If you should have any questions or need assistance, please call our Technical Support Group at 1 (800) 921 - 8104 or click here to chat live.

[FIOS] finding a HPNA bridge to use own router

I currently have 100/100 mbps frontier fios service on the portland, oregon area. When it was installed, the tech gave me a Zyxel HLA3105 coax hpna bridge, so my current setup is like this ONT->coax->Zyxel HLA3105->ethernet->my own personal router (not the one provided by frontier). I will try to return their router to them to avoid being charged the $5/month router rental fee... Anyways, this setup is working fine but when I looked at the specs for the Zyxel HLA3105 coax hpna bridge I saw that for some reason the ethernet port on it is only 10/100 and not gigabit. So I figured that this will probably be a bottleneck for my maximum down/up speed since I have 100/100 service and there is usually some data transfer overhead? (correct me if I am wrong about this) So I thought I would try and find either an hpna coax bridge with a gigabit port on it OR a router that supports HPNA WAN which I could just configure to use as a bridge. The trouble is that I have had a very hard time finding either of these things. It just doesn't seem like there is a whole lot of information about this... So does anyone know of any hpna coax bridge with a gigabit port on it OR a router that supports HPNA WAN which I could just configure to use as a bridge? I was looking at all of the products listed here: HomePNA - Products - Member Products but I can't seem to find any that do what I want and are available to purchase. Since frontier also offers a 150/150 mbps service where I live they must have a bridge/router that supports gigabit ethernet OR maybe they just require using the ethernet port that comes directly out of the ONT which I looked up the specs for and it does say it supports gigabit ethernet. I have considered this option but it would involve drilling holes/running wires and it would just be more convenient if I could avoid this... EDIT: well I just found this post which is about a year old but seems to confirm that I would need to just run ethernet to the ONT to get any higher speed...

Am I Getting Ripped Off?

I had to renew with Frontier today and here's what I'm getting. - 100/100 Internet - Preferred HD TV - Digital Voice - Cable Card Rental - Router Rental After all the credits I'm receiving I'll be paying $135 per month (that includes taxes). My price includes a $10 Router Rental + Cable Card Rental...but I'm not locked into a two year contract. Any feedback on if I could do better since I'm technically not a new customer and I'm grandfathered in from Verizon.

[FIOS] Charge to enable ethernet?!

Hi everyone, I was told and helped by a tech friend to run a Ethernet cable to a better location within my house (the garage) rather than a bedroom.. He had done the call to get the ONT Switched a couple years back and told me do to so.. Ask for the Ethernet to get enabled and the coax to be switched. I have no STB's (we have Sat. for TV). My tech buddy ran the Ethernet cable and I called support and they said "we can activate" but we cannot assign it. The assignment requires a person to come out which in turn is an extra 75 dollars!!! My friend and I have the same ONT model(s) for our area.. Did the policy change since he had done this or is there something I am missing? Thanks

[DSL] Not able to PING to my Frontier IP except from speed-test sites...

External, non speed-test PING sites (like for example http://ping.eu/ping/ or http://ipaddressguide.com/ping ) should work for me on this Frontier internet service I have per the @AskFrontier Twitter support personnel but they DON't work (with 100% packet loss) --per "^STA" and "-LB" from that support channel. Also, Per "^STA" yesterday he also failed to PING with http://ping.eu/ping/ that he recommended I try. Anyone here able to ping to their Frontier IP's from these type of sites?

I buying a new house that has access to Fios aka Frontier now. I am looking at the base 50/50 package as this more then enough and I only need Internet. I get my TV via OTA and Direct TV Now streaming. Also want to make sure I can deny using there crappy router and use my own directly connected to the ONT. Lastly how long will it take to get my free upgrade to 100/100? I see people all over who have the lower tiers are getting bumped to the 100/100 if there line can handle it.

[FIOS] Issues with billing, sign-up promotions and customer service

I'm a recent customer from Beaverton, OR. My TV and Internet service started in May. The quality of service (50/50 Internet and Prime HD) is fine so far. Given my experience with Comcast sales agents and customer service, I decided to physically go to a Frontier store to get written sales order. I'm glad I did -- at least I have that...When I signed up, there was promotion for free HBO for two years. And it is stamped in bold letters on the sales order. My girlfriend wants HBO and it was one of the reasons why we made the switch to Frontier. When the service started, HBO wasn't connected. I called customer service and told them about the promo and the guy said he'll note it in the account but he can only do it free for one year! So the first bill comes for May + June -- the service started on May 2nd. I see that HBO is fully charged! Then I go to the Frontier store I signed up at and explain the situation. I'm told that they'll look into this and call me. After a week I go back, and they're still working on it. He told me also to call customer support. Now I'm getting worried. I send a message to the office of the president, https://frontier.com/office-of-the-president-form and to Kelly Morgan (I just realized that he's not heading customer support but the Security bundle stuff...). Yesterday, I check my account online a see an order was placed a week ago for Starz Encore with a two year date range! I chat online with a rep about it and he's completely useless -- first thing he tried was to sell me the stupid security bundle... Then I make a telephone call and this lady is better and say it's a free promo for two years! Now I'm thinking they gave me Starz instead of HBO. I called Frontier again today and the rep sounds better than average rep. He said he'll credit my account for two months of HBO. Then he said he'll talk to the promo department and fix this. After a minute or two he told me that he was told that the current promo is for Starz/Encore and unfortunately, they can't do HBO promo at this time! I'm so pissed that this is costing me so much time! Any suggestions? Thanks.

FIOS Regional Sports Fee

I signed up recently for the Ultimate Package in Texas and I thought the package included all regional sports channels and fees. My bills reflect an additional Regional Sports Fee of $5.89. Is that a normal charge for Frontier? Thanks!

[FIOS] Two 'sides' to Frontier FIOS system? CableCards only on one side?

About a week ago, I had a chat-based interaction with a Frontier customer service agent, as I was getting tired with what I perceive to be a large bill (about $185 after tax for FIOS Triple Play: 50/50 Internet, Voice, and 'legacy' Prime HD). I'm out of contract, so I wanted to see if there were any new package options. I live in the North Texas area. It took about 45 minutes, but we worked through all of the steps (he was very thorough and patient) and ended up with the following: * Keep the same TV package, but switch to the "Frontier" version; * Upgrade to 75/75 Internet; * Keep Digital Voice; This would drop me to $124/month before taxes. This sounded good, so we were about to commit. However, when I asked him to push over the itemized list of billable elements, the CableCard for my TiVo was not on the list. When I asked him to double-check, he stepped away for a minute, and came back with this: "Also, I was informed by my superior that your cablecard is not supported with a conversion to the Frontier stream. So, if we did this you'd have to move to Frontier equipment I'm afraid." I then asked if this meant if I had to stay on the Verizon "side" of the system, and he replied: "Yes, because we can't support your cablecard." I asked before leaving the chat if there were any remaining options for keeping my CableCard while not just continuing month-to-month at my current billing level, and he replied: "We do have a retention department who might have something for you. Customer service does not have access to retention discounts." So: is this right? Is there really a Verizon "side" (like a legacy system) that I'm on, and a Frontier "side", even though I'd be on the same physical connection - same fiber, same ONT, same everything? And does this really mean that going forward, there is no future for me as a CableCard-based user in the Frontier ecosystem? I'm not willing to give up my TiVo anytime soon, so I want to make sure this really is correct before I start shopping around for other options. Thanks.

4K Plans for north Texas FIOS?

Does Frontier plan to offer 4k content on FIOS TV anytime soon? I've been trying out Netflix streaming and even their 1080 content is better than a lot of stuff I see on the FIOS HD movie channels.

Re-Upping on 2 yr Term when Current Term Runs Out

At the end of a 2-year promo, when the account was going to roll to Month-to-Month at a higher rate, Verizon was happy to re-up another promo if I was willing to lock in for another 2 year commitment. I've heard conflicting reports of Frontier's willingness to do this. Any FLORIDA customers tried this yet, and if so, what was the result?

Frontier Southern California and world of warcraft

I've been having a 3+ month lag problem which includes "world server down" and "transfer aborted, instance not found" errors. I have tried all of blizzards "suggestions" to fix the issue with no luck. I have contacted Frontier and they are saying the problem is on blizzards servers. Blizzard is saying the opposite. Here are the pathping, tracert and MTR reports. Can a smart person help me out on this? I have no idea what to do. All 3 of the tests below were done when the issue presented in game. Tracing route to 24.105.30.129 over a maximum of 30 hops 1 , Often times when this error is related to a connection issue it's due to an unstable connection such as packet loss. Your tests show Packet Loss is indeed occurring. This means data is dropping between your client and the server. The server isn't getting all the information required to keep a solid connection. Hop 3 appears to be where the packet loss starts to occur: 3 8ms 9/ 100 = 9% 9/ 100 = 9% 172.102.108.12 0/ 100 = 0% | | 172.102.108.12 - 9 | 166 | 152 | 7 | 9 | 16 | 9 | We would recommend to show this data to your Internet Service Provider. See if they can ping hop 3, IP: 172.102.108.12 to see why it's dropping data. Once this issue is resolved you will most likely see the error go away. Thank you!" So I called Frontier and had them ping that IP address and they said that they could see a problem with packet loss, so he rebooted my router and said something about changing an IP address that would be more compatible with the problem IP" Of course the issue has not been resolved. Other than cancelling my service does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks and much appreciated.

Incorrect Billing Practices

So I signed up for internet, got quoted a price, liked it, agreed, and got hooked up. I was charged a month and prorated for the last 2 days of May. I was quoted $60 a month, so my first bill should have been $63.88, give or take a penny. My first bill was over $100 because they are trying to up my bill to a different monthly amount. I called, was on a 45 min conversation, and was promised it was fixed. Not. Called again, got told the same thing, and of course, didn't happen. I then tried the chat feature, and that guy was no help at all, trying to downgrade my plan, then pretended he couldn't read my chats anymore. Called 2 more times, got hung up on, then was told that all systems were down. I am beyond frustrated. I also have a voice file with the original conversation when I signed up. I keep offering it up to Frontier but so far no takers. They don't even care. I left Comcast for a better deal, and boy did I end up getting screwed. I guess I need to go shop at Comcast yet again. How unfortunate. Anything I can do here?

[TV] $6.00 Regional Sports Charge just appeared on my bill

I'm in SouthernCalifornia and My monthly bill just increased by about $3.00. When I compared my current bill to the previous one I found a new $6.00 Regional Sports Fee added to my Other Services and Credits section. This was partially offset by slightly reduced amounts in the Taxes and Other Charges section. Based on what I've been reading the sports fees are a major motivator for people to cut the cord and switch to streaming services. I wonder why Frontier management doesn't recognize this.
