Hey everyone,
It's been a while since my last post, but I finally had to get a new modem.
My Speedstream 5200 seemingly died 3 days ago, but the jury is still out on whether it actually died or not.
I asked the technician if it had finally died (after getting a competent CSR through Tech Support who said that it wouldn't sync no matter what was done). He just said, "It's just an old modem." I had no DSL light for 3 days, previously.
Have they finally made it impossible to use old modems like the one I had?
I was given a Netgear D2200D-1FRNAS to replace it.
My first impression was: How UGLY! I hate the flat design. The SpeedStream 5200 had an angled, front-facing design so the LED lights were visible no matter which way you looked at it. I can barely see the DSL and Internet light on the Netgear (and why is the Internet light blue? That seems so random).
I decided to cycle it on and off earlier (just to see how fast it would reboot). It's so SLOW compared to the SpeedStream5200. My network icon didn't even show a connection until I opened my browser (Don't care for that either).
Anyway, I noticed that I can't access the modem page (192.168.254.254) without a username and password?
I was trying to get to it to see if I could reboot the modem from there without actually having to press the power button off/on—should the need arise to do so in the future).
How do I access the modem page on the Netgear D2200D? What username/password do I use?
Any insight would be helpful.
Thanks,
whenthepawn
P.S. I really miss the SpeedStream 5200 :-(
