[DSL] No authentication with a third-party modem

Hello everyone, My Frontier modem has died on Saturday and after Frontier helpfully promised to send a guy with a new modem as soon as in just 10 days, I decided to simply buy my own modem. I've already tried two Netgear models (currently it's Netgear N600) but have no luck in getting the Internet connection working. Here's where I am right now: - The ADSL connection seems to be established with VCI/VPI set to 0/35, the ADSL led is steady green - The Frontier support has provided me with a username and a password (which we double-checked many times and even set to a simple word to avoid mistakes) - The device is set to the PPPoE encapsulation - IP address and DNS servers are set to automatic Here's the problem: - After connecting over ADSL the device doesn't get the IP address (0.0.0.0), and hence there's no Internet. - Frontier support people have no idea what to do, resorting to generic voodoo stuff (switch off and on, reset to factory settings, etc.) Does anyone know a way to get to people who could at least understand the question "what other things other than the username/password could affect my authentication"? Does anyone have experience with this modem (probably knowing that it won't work with Frontier) or could suggest a different modem + WiFi router that's known to work with Frontier? Thanks!
