Hello, I have a NVG443B Version: 9.2.0h5d23 router, in which I have a home run line from the NID to where the router is. I have been getting constant DNS drops. I have switched my frontier DNS to the google DNS in the router. This does not help. I've had 2 technicians out - the 2nd tech was the one who suggested and helped with a home run line. Can anyone provide insight/assistance on fixing this issue? I can provide any information required.

[FIOS] Intermittent outage with Frontier Fios
This is a problem I have been struggling with for some time now and I hope someone here will know how I can sort it out. Just about every day my connection goes down for some odd reason - this not only affects my internet but my phone as well. Sometimes I'll just be surfing the net not doing any downloads or I'll be downloading a file or files and then the connection dies. Usually I'll wait and in less than five minutes or so the connection comes back. Then there will be times that I will have to do a reset - and this involves me unplugging the fios modem (a Verizon Fios Quantum Gateway g1100) and then going to this box thingy (I don't know what it's called, but see picture) to disconnect the battery and also unplugging the box thingy from the power outlet. Once I've done all that, I wait a few seconds and then reconnect the battery, plug box thingy back into power outlet and then reconnect the power to the fios modem. I have had Frontier come out and check the fios box on the outside of my house and there was nothing wrong there.
I'm trying to narrow down what the route of the problem is. I think I can safely rule out the box that's outside. I don't think it's the coaxial cable inside my house that's an issue either. I'm quite hesitant to say that it's the actual router itself because when the connection does go down - as stated previously - I also lose connection to my phone (no dial tone). That only leave me with this - the megasplitter that's outside. This is where the coaxial from the main box outside connects to. There are two coaxials out - one that goes to the living room (not used) and one to a bedroom where my computer is (this is being used). Could the megasplitter be the problem? Thanks in advance for any help with this issue!

Frontier g1100 router
I have this router in a 3100 sqft house. It doesn't seem to have much range. I bought a Netgear extender which hasn't worked well. Just had a chat with Frontier and got nowhere with them. I think I will just buy a better router. Any suggestions, that work well with Frontier?

FTTH in Danbury, CT area?
I've been asked to post here about a short meeting with a Frontier tech who was hanging some cable in front of my house. There were two trucks and they were unspooling and hanging some moderately large cable going down the street.
When I asked him what they were putting in he said we would have "Fiber To The Home" soon! I thought that sounded pretty nice! I'm on Comcast now but fiber would be a big draw for me.
Here is a pic of the loop on the pole outside my house. The gray box is the Comcast cable, the loop below that is the new Frontier cable.

Arris NVG443B constantly dropping internet
Every single day at least 5 times a day my router drops internet. A reset fixes it for a short amount of time before it goes out again. I had Frontier come and check it out and upgrade my firmware but it hasn’t helped. If there’s are any numbers you’d like me to post to help you, please let me know.

[FIOS] Does my 50 Mbps compare to Comcast 150 Mbps?
I thought that Frontier 50 Mbps was doing well here. However, we are moving to a Comcast only area and they quote 150-200 Mbps. Unless I misunderstand, this a lot faster? I thought FIOS was the way to go, and yes, I know the Comcast Upload speed is nowhere near as fast. Am I missing anything here?

[Internet] return to frontier internet
I'm planning to get internet from frontier anew since on 'paper' they seem to have better deals than Comcast/Xfinity in my area. (see attachment at bottom) [ I'm currently using my phone's 22 Gig data plan for internet, but my daughter will be here, and she can use up that much data in a couple of days. :uhh: ]
However, I do have a few questions about their plans and policies:
1. Aside from having no price increase for 2 years, what exactly "2 year price guarantee & no annual contract" entails? Does that mean that I have a 2 years long contract, or that I can cancel, say, after 9 months?
2. I may have some visitors for a few months. Can I add TV for, say, 6 months, and then go back to internet only service without penalties?
3. I may be out of the country for some time and I would have someone else live here during that time. How easy is to change the name on the account? Would that also reset the contract?
4. What are the actual prices (approximate) compared to advertised prices?

Actiontec F2250 Vs. Arris NVG44X
I was having some problems with my Actiontec F2250 modem, so I called Frontier Technical Support yesterday. I was quite surprised when they said a technician could come out this morning! Usually, there is a longer wait. I was getting speeds of about 28 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up before. They changed it so I would only get 24 Mbps down and up to 3 Mbps up.
Anyway, for those that have the Arris NVG44X, has that been a good modem for you? I know that this is dual band, so it will be interesting to see how the 5 Ghz band compares

Arris NVG443B vs Netgear D2200D-1FRNAS
Hi,
We had a lighting strike a week ago and it took out my router/modem (among other things). Frontier shipped me an Arris NVG443B which I set up yesterday. Then today a Netgear D2200D arrived and I am not sure why but...
Is there much of a difference between them? The Arris NVG443B seems to be working just fine and my speeds are what they were before (24 down, 1 up).
Thanks,
Jim

Anyone Else Down in Plano, TX?
Lost WAN IP around 9pm tonight. Anyone know if there is an outage? I called the support line, but there was a 1 hour wait. I don't have that kind of patience.
Tested everything on my side, and I am clean to the ONT. I have even tested with three routers.

Stuck on G.DMT forever?
SO, i live in central FL. Originally an ex-GTE/verizon footprint. Everything is ADSL (G.DMT) in almost all cases regardless of the DSLAM.
For those who have a great pair and are stuck on the 7mbps tier, VDSL2 or EVEN ADSL2+ would be of great advantage.. i dont know why they dont atleast implement ADSL2+, to be able to gain much more speed..
Does frontier have any intention on changing anything, ever?

[Router] NVG448BQ firewall settings...
I've just got Frontier service in Stamford, CT area with NVG448BQ broadband wireless router. Currently, one of the TVs connected to the router via Ethernet, while the other is wireless connection.
I've noticed the firewall setting on the Frontier router set to "Low" and switched it to "High"; doing so, effectively disabled both the wired and wireless TVs. Seemingly, both types of TV connections requires low firewall settings. Is there a way to disable ping reply to the public IP and keeping the TVs working?
Alternatively, are there any other broadband routers that would compatible with Frontier and has better firewall configuration options?
TIA...

New customer w/ 150/150 pkg. Slow u/l to Youtube, Google Drive, etc
It has been less than 24hours since install. Not getting full u/l speed either. I'm on a wired connection to the router. The installer ran ethernet line straight from the box in the garage to where the modem sits. (not on coax) When I try to upload a video to any site from either FF or Chrome my ul speed is 15Mbps. (https://i.imgur.com/JBBaLYp.png)
Now when I run a speed test(http://speedtest.frontier.com/speedtest.html) on their site it is fair (https://i.imgur.com/s6JKKk8.png) (better than what I had) but not full speed. I can live with it for now.
I get that I won't get 100% of the bandwidth all the time but to sites like Google and Youtube, I should be getting a great deal more when uploading videos.
Not sure if I should call Frontier and have them come back out and check the install or equip. or what I should do. I don't have another to rule this PC out.

How do I go about requesting fios?
Hello, I recently moved into a new condominium with around 120+ units inside. Problem is, the HOA won't approve fios due to "the board members don't approve" I reside in the San Fernando Valley, my neighborhood has fios from the Verizon days. Across the street from my condominium is an apartment building and they have Fios available. I can see the fiber optic cabling running along the whole parameter of the complex attached to street poles; this HOA is run by older members I would say 50-60. How can I go about getting fios in my property? Can frontier not demand entrance to the HOA? Previously when Verizon was around 3.0 MBPS DSL was attainable according to my neighbor.

[FIOS] Interest + Digital Voice Down in Beaverton, OR
For the last week or so, my line has been going down in between 11am and 1pm for around 15 minutes and since yesterday, my phone started going down as well. When this happens, the DV portal on Frontier website becomes inaccessible. Today, my phone was down for an hour from 10:40 until around 11:40.
Anybody else?
EDIT: It's still very unstable with the phone down.
EDIT: Phone is working but its portal is still broken.

$50 more for double the speed on second to highest tier?
I have had fios through Frontier for almost two years. I haven't had much of a problem with them and my speed and service has always been constant. Lately though I have been downloading more and wanted to upgrade my speed.
I called and the rep told me 300/300 was $115 a month. $50 more that the $65 I am paying now for 150/150.
The only thing keeping me from switching is Comcasts data cap. I can get 400 megs from comcast with the $50 no data cap bullshit fee for $120. :uhh:
I mean jesus christ, no wonder they are going under.

Cablecard Return
Does Frontier require return of cablecards? I don’t see it on their list of items that need to be returned. May bite the bullet and go $55 50/50 internet only and OTA with some other stream option. I can use my TiVO Bolt (lifetime) for OTA recording.
