xfinity only broadcast in 720p so I just left it set to that. However Frontier fios stb has a setting of 1080i and 720p. I have a panasonic 55" zt50 plasma and I am unsure what setting to use. I wish there as a native setting so it could just take whatever is broadcast, but i have to make the choice. What should I have this set to for the best pq for movies.

Moving a CableCard to a new Device. FL
I'm on Frontier in Florida, and I'd like to make this process as smooth as possible. Has anyone had experience with this on how the process works and what number to call etc for Frontier in Florida?
I'm switching from an infinity TV 4 to an hdhomerun Prime on Frontier.
Anytime I've called in the past in relation to my CableCARD they don't seem to know anything about them and it needed a tech to come out to fix.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Help?, super low SNR and super high Attenuation (inconsistency)
I've tried many "fixes" mo try and make my internet stable but nothing works. Almost every time i restart my gateway, the Downstream is always different (inconsistent) but no mater if downstream is 1, upstream has never changed from 160Kbps. There are some times where SNR even goes as low as -3, but its usually at 5-6. Can someone give me ideas to try or a reason on how this happens so that I can fix this please.

Business customer needs quality modem with bridge mode.
Hi,
I have about 25 computers or more that run its own specialized software. We are on our 4th modem in less than 3 months. Every time the modem dies we also loose the ability to operate. I went out and purchased a Netgear Nighthawk X10 router however we need to get a modem that can be put into bridge mode. They keep giving me an Arris NVG443B modem and they tell me I am not able to bridge it?
I want to keep my router and my internet modem separated so I can also troubleshoot 10X easier and identify where the problem is. I don't need frontier to help me with my own network but I need to get a modem that can just work in bridge mode to my router.
Can anyone help? I am willing to buy whatever I have to buy to get it done!
As it sits right now I have my Netgear all hooked up and everything is working on my network but I can't get the internet to connect or auto detect.
Thanks!

[Vantage] Frontier Vantage Internet
Hello everyone,
Looking on the internet, I came across this site and you guys seem to know what you're talking about. Figured I'd ask a question.
Firstly, sorry if this has already been covered. I did a quick search on here but couldn't find anything.
So, I just bought a house and am looking to have internet. I've confirmed that the previous owner had Frontier to the house, so I figured I'd give them a call.
Talking with Frontier, there are two plans available to me... one that's all copper, and one that's copper/fiber. Now, I've heard two separate explanations from two different employees about the copper/fiber option, and I'm looking to see which one is correct: Is it fiber down the street and then copper to my house, or the other way around?
I'm hoping it's the first option, as I'd like to take advantage of the fiber, but I don't want to dig up my yard to run it to my house. Could someone please give me a little more insight into this? I'm also not familiar with all of the acronyms I've seen used here, so assume I'm an educated dummy :-)
Thanks guys!

Frontier's reputation could easily be fixed...
1. Customer Service - This is an issue at most companies, but it is not a new concept. Hire some management consultants and fix this. Customer service is the face of the company.
2. Billing - I don't understand why it is impossible for Frontier to do billing without issues. They need to move to a less complex system. No more complicated billing codes--this isn't a hospital! It should be straightforward/simple. Simple is better! Imagine how much money they would SAVE if they had 10 possible combinations MAX and pricing was consistent across the board (regardless of market, regardless of new customer or old customer).
3. Gigabit - In many markets, they have the ability to offer gigabit speeds... they just aren't! Why not use this as a HUGE competitive advantage and tout themselves as the only ISP to offer gigabit. They are incredibly stupid for not doing this. Even when everyone else has gigabit speeds in the future, they would be remembered as the first to offer it.
The solution seems so simple.
If I were to include a 4th option, it would of course be standardizing technologies across all markets, but this would be a huge endeavor.

[FIOS] The Fios G1100 in bridge mode behind a primary router.
The Fios G1100 in bridge mode to a primary router.
This only works if you want to use the G1100's wifi antenna alone.
If there is more than one wifi radio then DNS fails.
The remaining lan ports on the G1100 work as they should.
btw Step 5. puts the router into Bridge mode.
1. Connect WAN port from G1100 to an open LAN port on primary router.
2. Connect Laptop or desktop to the G1100 LAN port and open https://192.168.1.1 to the G1100 and configure as follows.
3. My Network > Main
4. Network Connections > Network (Home/Office) Properties > Settings Button > Change IP Address: 192.168.1.2
5. Network Connections > Network (Home/Office) Properties > Settings Button > Bridge > Uncheck Coax
6. Network Connections > Network (Home/Office) Properties > Settings Button > IP Address Distribution: Disabled
7. Network Connections > Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) Properties > Settings Button > Obtain IP Automatically
8. Network Connections > Broadband Connection (Ethernet/Coax) Properties > Set DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
9. Press the Apply button and Reboot the G1100
10. Connect Laptop or desktop to the G1100 LAN port and open https://192.168.1.2 to the G1100
11. Test LAN Internet access from G1100 (ping 8.8.8.8)
12. Turn off old Wifi Antenna and test the new G1100 Wireless access point web access.

For those considering upgrading to the newer Windstream routers
I recently came back to Frontier and received the newer NVG468MQ router and thought I'd give some info for those looking into upgrading (If you can) or buying one and my thoughts.
If you have the Gateway G1100 I would say keep it. There's no real difference in performance from what I see and honestly at least for me the range on the Windstream is worse. With the Gateway I used to be able to go out into my yard and have plenty of wifi even on 5g, but I can't do that anymore. I've tried changing channels with no luck. I know some have issues with range on the GS100, but don't expect it to be any better with the Windstream.
If you are wanting to buy one on ebay or elsewhere keep in mind you will need a MEB100 MoCA adapter to go with it. A lot of sellers are not including this so Frontier may still subject you to a rental fee if they need to provide it if they even will. I had no idea one was needed until it was installed. They say it is required now. I'm sure any MoCA adapter will work though.
The lights do stay solid on the front and it is pretty compact. The MoCA adapter, the splitter and coax cables can add to more cluster all depending on your set up.
When you go to the ip for the router it automatically brings you to the main page for it. You only need to sign in with a password to change settings.

[DSL] Verizon Actiontec GT784WNV configuration to current Frontier DSL
Hello,
My current modem (Verizon Actiontec GT701c) was installed about 5 years ago when we had Verizon but since then we have Frontier who took over DSL in our neighborhood. I am planning to replace it with a Verizon branded Actiontec GT784WNV (modem/router combo)).
What IP address will I be typing in to self install? Can this Verizon branded modem be self configured or will I need to end up calling Frontier so they can do some tweaks from their end?

Frontier Weighs Sale of Ex-Verizon Landline Assets in FL, TX and CA
quote:Frontier Communications Corp. is working with advisers to sell assets as the debt-laden rural telecom company looks to raise new funds and fix its capital structure, according to people with knowledge of the matter.
The company is considering a sale of a package of landline assets in California, Florida and Texas that it acquired from Verizon Communications Inc. in a $10.5 billion deal just two years ago, the people said, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. The assets are likely to be sold in parts rather than as a single package, one of the people said.
Frontier shares rose as much as 12 percent in New York. The company has a market valuation of about $695 million.
While Frontier has struggled to capitalize on the value of the network property, prices have been rising in the market for fiber assets. Demand for faster internet has fueled a race for fiber-optic capacity, and that’s driving up the value of the cables that pump traffic through the internet. Frontier bought the assets for 3.7 times one measure of earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, according to the deal announcement. The unit generated $1.04 billion in revenue in the third quarter, according to a company presentation.
Hunt for Fiber Riches Yields $40 Billion in Deals in Five Weeks
A representative for Frontier declined to comment.
The Verizon properties included 3.7 million voice connections, 2.2 million broadband connections, and 1.2 million FiOS video connections, Frontier said at the time of the acquisition.
Norwalk, Connecticut-based Frontier, struggling under $18 billion of debt, last week won a reprieve from its lenders that will allow it to borrow more money and refinance part of its debt. Frontier has seen its customer base and margins shrink as rural residents abandon landlines in favor of wireless carriers.
Frontier Chief Financial Officer Perley McBride said the amendments to its debt terms were an “important part of our plan to obtain additional flexibility with our credit facilities and manage our capital structure.Source: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-02-02/frontier-is-said-to-consider-sale-of-ex-verizon-landline-assets

[Vantage] Help with Arris nvg443b bridge mode?
I'm hoping that some of the knowledgeable folks on this site can help me with instructions on setting the Arris nvg443b that Frontier provided with their 90/8 service into bridge mode so that I can use my own DD-WRT router?? AND/OR could someone possibly recommend a Bonded VDSL modem that's compatible with Frontier?? Frontier doesn't seem to have any knowledgeable people that can, or will, help with this. I've searched the Web thoroughly and have come up empty. The only setting on the router that I've found that sounds remotely related is Cascaded Router?? Thank you very much, in advance, for your assistance.

Was FIOS picture quality better during SuperBowl?
I have an LG OLED TV and it shows all the imperfections in the picture quality. I've been getting smearing and cloudy pictures probably due to FIOS compression. However, during SuperBowl the picture was great and that includes other channels? Anyone notice this?

Low upload speeds with windstream nvg468mq router
I've been noticing that my upload speeds (I have 100/100) over wifi are really bad. I'm talking around 6 mbps on either 5g or 2.5. Download is around 75-90. When wired it seems to pull in and put out low 90's so doesn't seem to be the router.
I have rebooted the router and speeds end up where they should be, at least for awhile, then go back to low numbers. Uploading to Dropbox is like dial up.
Does this sound like a bad router, antenna issue or channel issue? I've tried different tests with different servers and all end up giving me low uploads. I never had this problem with the GS1100. I always had very high equal speeds over wifi.
Could it be that I have to use a moca adapter with a splitter since its over coax?
I'm actually thinking about buying a GS100 and using it instead. The Windstream isnt costing me anything to rent so I'd just shelf it.
Any thoughts?
EDIT: Did a recheck and I am now getting stable 91 down 96 up on wifi. So this clearly isnt a router equipment issue. Has to be Frontier or being on a crappy channel.

[FIOS] Any Frontier promotions for existing customers in Northwest?
Only have FIOS internet with Frontier. Chatted with them this afternoon to discuss 20% increase in my bill for internet 30/5 account, from $34.99 to $41.98. This was just after looking up info on current promotions. They are offering new installs $30 per month for 100/100 for 12 months without contract.
All they would offer is a speed increase to 50/50 for $65 per month, which I assume is their standard rate.
Anyone to call interested in customer retention at Frontier, or are their chat bots as far as you can get?

new CT Frontier NVG448BQ modem - no IPv6 service available?(Resolved
I moved from one CT address into another - and got a new VDSL service after 5 weeks (for backup internet service).
I use a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite (ERL) in a dual WAN configuration, my primary WAN1 is Optimum, with a IPv6 tunnel through HE.net. This is all working great, except for Netflix refusing to stream ipv6 traffic through HE.net. so I'd like to switch ipv6 to the Frontier pipe.
I used to have IPv6 (6rd) through a NVG589 modem (ex UVerse in CT). But setting up the choices in the new NVG448BQ modem, neither IPv6 setting (6rd or IPv6 DHCP client) works on getting a valid IPv6 address.
Anybody get 6rd IPv6 working on the NVG448BQ VDSL modem in CT? any suggestions?

FIOS bizarre TV proble, Help
I have a HD stb no dvr. FIOS was installed in 2012. No problems until frontier took over, but they were minor until now. Sunday the tv worked perfectly. That evening I went to watch the game. There were static looking lines moving from bottom to top. Picture was jumpy, could see it but it was terrible, color & volume good.
This continued on all channels all night. I checked all my hookups and TV/stb connerctions.
Monday AM everything was normal and quality color, picture, sound. Monday evening the same problem as Sunday happened again. Tuesday morning everything was back to normal. I left the TV on all day and it was normal.
Tues night the picture went haywire as it had the previous 2 nights. It is obvious that this problem is not caused by the hardware. Tech support never heard of this problem and blamed it on the stb or my chords. I said its got to be on your end. Not mine because if was hardware failure it wouldn't do it on a day night cycle. If you have bad hardware, wiring it would be 24/7.
They are sending me another set top box. I doubt that is the problem. It has to be something in their network/infrastructure .
Any help I would be grateful for its apparent without a tech call to the house, which will show the tv working fine during the day they won't be able to help.
