I have been on the same 3mbps/768kbps tier for .....um... well since about 2003? Take that back, it may have started out as a 768k connection. Can't remember. :hmm:
Anyway, they are sending a tech out out on Friday to "upgrade" the service. When I asked why, he mentioned bonded service and a new router. Based on what I gather, that involves two phone lines. I'm going to go ahead and run some cat5 for the phone line, and take care of the internal wiring before he gets here. I just feel sorry for the tech when he gets here.....
I currently do not have a NID, I'm assuming he is going to have to add one, and probably a new drop from the pole, I don't think there is two wires in the existing drop. The phone line on the house now is probably the same one that has been there for 40 years+?
If anyone has gone through this upgrade, feel free to chime in. i am aiming to get the fastest service i can from them.
I'll be sure to keep you posted on what the outcome is.
