There are probably other threads on this...but I'm starting a new one for up-to-date info.
I'm looking for Frontier DSL speeds (as indicated by Speedtest.net) by other users in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia (Jefferson and Berkeley counties specifically).
I live near Inwood, WV and just got Frontier DSL as it's the only option where we live. Frontier claims "up to" 6Mbps...but I'm never getting more than 2.6Mbps (at any time of the day or night). My modem is connected directly to the NID, and the wiring is all relatively new. We also do NOT have landline phone service (so the only thing on our line is DSL). And finally, we're about 1 mile from the nearest Central Office (and the Frontier tech who connected said "The signal is great!")
I'm going to call Frontier...but I'm also wanting to get more data to find out if 2.5Mbps is normal? Or am I getting screwed?
Thanks,
Scott
