Background: We've had Frontier FIOS before it was Frontier's, we were among the first areas to get Verizon FIOS, right after Everett and at the same time as Lynnwood. (We're in MLT.)
We had the Ultimate EXTREME HD VZ package until we dropped premium TV (after Frontier took over, and when they increased the cost to $120/mo w/o premium). We were fine with that, we're using M-cards instead of cable boxes, don't really care for their PPV or on-demand.
We passed the last time this "You need to switch" spiel came through, but now there's a new facet to it - they're forcing us to switch by 12/31/2014. They say, and I quote "Your current service plan will be replace by a new, more attractive package."
Attractive for whom? We don't want their DVR quoted in the $140 "introductory" price, we definitely don't want to be auto-enrolled in their premium channels (you must call to cancel), and we don't need their phone.
We've done the "free" dvr and boxes before, it's why we went with a system WE own - no extra monthly fees.
So, has anyone else received one of these "We're Comcasting you!" letters? Any idea if we can get around the plan change at all? Seems like all they've been doing lately is removing channels, and I don't want to pay more for QVC #5.
