[DSL] Westell 7500 drops Internet connection several times daily

Hi, My Westell 7500 is losing Internet connection several times a day. Out of a sudden all network services like http, email, ftp and ssh stop working. The problem occurs with my Desktop or Notebook, either hard wired or wireless, under Linux or Windows. Curiously the DSL link is up, and the router GUI displays it has an IP and is connected, but when I release the IP a renew won't work. To resolve the issue the router apparently needs to resync the DSL signal. Thus a reboot or simply unplugging the phone cable restores connection until it drops out again within a few minutes or half a day. The error occurs totally erratically. After each resync IP release and renew works fine until the next outage. Sometimes this issue is accompanied by a decreases in connection speed. I.e. the router displays 384 Kbps down instead of 1184 Kbps. But it also happens when down speeds match specification. I already had a field tech at my house who checked out the DSL signal and cable wiring. But he couldn't find any problems with that. Since I also have intermittent DSL signal outages (1-3 times a week) I suppose there must be some problem with Frontier's DSL network in my area (Durham, NC). I welcome any suggestions for a solution. Thanks.
