[FIOS] Intermittent outage with Frontier Fios

This is a problem I have been struggling with for some time now and I hope someone here will know how I can sort it out. Just about every day my connection goes down for some odd reason - this not only affects my internet but my phone as well. Sometimes I'll just be surfing the net not doing any downloads or I'll be downloading a file or files and then the connection dies. Usually I'll wait and in less than five minutes or so the connection comes back. Then there will be times that I will have to do a reset - and this involves me unplugging the fios modem (a Verizon Fios Quantum Gateway g1100) and then going to this box thingy (I don't know what it's called, but see picture) to disconnect the battery and also unplugging the box thingy from the power outlet. Once I've done all that, I wait a few seconds and then reconnect the battery, plug box thingy back into power outlet and then reconnect the power to the fios modem. I have had Frontier come out and check the fios box on the outside of my house and there was nothing wrong there. I'm trying to narrow down what the route of the problem is. I think I can safely rule out the box that's outside. I don't think it's the coaxial cable inside my house that's an issue either. I'm quite hesitant to say that it's the actual router itself because when the connection does go down - as stated previously - I also lose connection to my phone (no dial tone). That only leave me with this - the megasplitter that's outside. This is where the coaxial from the main box outside connects to. There are two coaxials out - one that goes to the living room (not used) and one to a bedroom where my computer is (this is being used). Could the megasplitter be the problem? Thanks in advance for any help with this issue!
